America in the 60s

How many average homes had microwaves in the 60's?
my parents did. I can also say in certain homes of my town they didn't have electric then and also still had the model a to drive.

Ok...but I did not know of a single person who had one.

in the 60's my mom said that most of florida was on the old switchboard telephone type. even Miami, fl. it was pre 911 then. she retired from bell south back in 2004

1959 small town California there was no dial on the phone... you picked up and operator said 'number please'
1957 a different small town only had 3 phones The pay phone at the only bar... the Doc ... and the resident cop

My family got a colored television in the 60's.It was awful. The first color television show we watched was Bonanza. All of their faces were green or orange. You had to adjust it all the time.

We weren't on switchboards, but we did have party lines.... THAT was a blast.

Yes,they were a blast.Pick up the phone and there would be a bunch of people on it.Some guys would say "Hey what is your name?".My friends and I met a ton of guys like that.

actually you were. my mom was an operator then and said that in those days when you called for the cops you had to dial 0. she then would answer and connect you via a switchboard to the cops. her words not mine. she said that in florida then it had no full numbers the old seven digits for local, just the 5 ie old number 569-3387 would be in that day 9-3387.

Alot of our phone prefix were names instead of numbers like....mohawk,belmont or alpine.

We had one of the few TV's on the block in 54.... A black & white console. We got 3 channels that all went off the air around midnight, and started again around 6 in the morning.

the army's old ta 312, and ta one phone has some similar properties to it.

I can remember having a television in a couple of years before you.
