anime

I liked Jaleel White's voice for him. But I think I like his current VA Roger Craig Smith more. (Right now a Sonic series called Sonic Boom is running on Cartoon Network.)
i haven't watched that, but with the older sonic they got darker in season 2. less goofy even with Antione. just it was cut short . season 3 was already to go but abc cancelled that show. remember the end with snidely and what he said?

True. The comics from what I've seen are viewed as continuing the SatAM storyline, but it's really just a spinoff. That bit about Snidely being the new villain never happened in the comic plotline. And it was about 50 issues before the comic series actually began to get serious. Before that it was little more than a silly spinoff with corny jokes.

I was never a fan of anime. I just could never get into it...and honestly, I was never even interested enough to 'try' and get into it.

I never would have thought I'd be into anime. My friend got me interested in this one series, convinced me to check it out. Fullmetal Alchemist. I ended up falling for it in a few episodes. Just, the characters were complex, had a real human element to them. The plot was well-written, complex, didn't portray things in black and white terms. It was a pretty deep story.
I began to check out more stories, found another series with characters you couldn't help but fall in love with. Oh, and then it broke your heart by making the characters suffer. But in a good way, they broke past the boundaries and pulled through it, moved on.

So I liked what I was seeing and began to look into more series. And not all are as well done as the first two series I watched. FMA was a masterpiece, Clannad was perhaps a masterpiece in it's own way...whatever it was, I absolutely loved it. Not all anime capture my interest in the same way as those two did, but I find anime interesting enough to continue watching more series.

Anywho, different things appeal to different people. Nothing wrong with that.

Speed racer :thumbsup
gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay, gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. did I say that was really gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay. yes anime is like that at times. but that show drives me nuts.

lol I remember Speed Racer from my childhood.
Probably the first anime I saw was one of Hayao Miyazaki's films...Howl's Moving Castle, maybe? Whichever one has Tortoro. (eta: Nope! It was "My Neighbor Tortoro".) (From what I've read, Miyazaki doesn't consider his films part of the anime industry, but it is animation from Japan.)

I used to mock speed racer with that laugh for fun and quote it. I still can if watch that show again.

Playing Persona 4 Arena today:

There are other Persona games, but this is the only one I have right now. There's an anime of this, too. Persona 4: The Animation. I haven't watched it yet.

Instead of what I had planned, ended up watching Vampire Knight. Seven episodes so far.
This anime is a shojo, believe it would be the first shojo I've watched. (Shojo means girls.) HUGE focus on romance, not quite used to that. I heard a few things about this series, though, plus it was on Netflix. So, decided to give it a try.

...okay, maybe not a huge focus on romance, but a big part of the story is "what guy will the girl end up with". Looks like this is aiming to be tragic, but I don't know how it ends other than I'm told by one person that the ending is terrible.
I do like that the story has a lot of interaction and...introspection, I guess? A lot of the other anime I've watched, I've more than once found myself a bit irritated that they almost constantly focus on battles and fighting. Especially the really popular ones like Naruto...battles would stretch on for many episodes/chapters, and I was just sitting there like "you've been batting long enough, let's get back to the plot now".
Like, yeah, fighting is cool and all and can be really exciting, but I enjoy seeing how characters act when they're not fighting for their lives, too, y'know? Blue Exorcist, still my most favorite right now, seems pretty balanced in that regard.

Well, finished the anime for Vampire Knight. Not sure if I'll read the manga or not. The manga goes on longer, but I'm told that the second half of it is no good and the ending is just stupid. I hate the point the anime left off at, my feels hurt so badly. ;-;

I'm watching two other series right now, aside from the shows I always catch on Toonami. (Which include Dragon Ball Z Kai, Inyuasha, and others.)
Psycho Pass (rated MA) seems really interesting. It's set far into the future where people's "psycho pass" is taken, and anyone higher than a certain level is considered a latent criminal.
My best friend pushed me into watching an anime called Noragami so she'd have someone else to fangirl with, so I'm watching that now, too. It's very, very steeped in Japanese mythology/religion. The characters are fun.

It aired on Toonami last year, but I usually went to bed before it was on. It's on my list, so I'll get to it eventually.

Past couple of days I've suddenly taken a strong interest in Dragon Ball. Never thought I would, always thought it was just about fighting and I prefer character interaction over that.
It's one of those things I kind of didn't want to get into, cuz...idk, super popular and all and sometimes popular series have a lot of stigma surrounding them. But I guess popular series are popular for a reason, eh....

Not going to read the manga or watch the anime (outside of the episodes airing on Toonami) until I finish at least some of the series I'm currently on. And even then it's likely I'll wait a good while before starting.

Still watching Psycho Pass, Noragami, and I started reading the manga version of Magi. Magi is VERY good, both the manga and the anime.

Ah, went back on my word here. Some episodes came up in my suggestions on YouTube and I ended up watching them. xD

Dragon Ball, the first anime series, seems to be more aimed at kids than Dragon Ball Z. Even the uncensored version.
Despite this, Dragon Ball also seems to have a more pervy sense of humor than DBZ. Huh, go figure. xD Values dissonance.

Part of me still wonders how I got emotionally invested in Dragon Ball of all things.

Not counting the final filler arc (which I will not be watching), have only five episodes to go on the first series.

Dragon Ball Kai is the version of Z with refurbished and restored animation, without all the filler, more true to the manga in plot and dialogue. Only about half of the current episodes out are dubbed, though. So as much as I want to marathon the episodes, I had better just continue viewing them weekly on Toonami.
I have nothing against subs, but I prefer dubs--and I don't really like Goku's Japanese voice. No disrespect to the actress.
