Oh, and you need to preform Ghusal, which is a bath in which you wash your entire body in water. This isn't only used for conversion purposes, but for Friday prayer as well.

Oh, man. I do that everyday.

Does a shower count?

Yes. As long as the water gets on you entire body.

Remember, back then people didn't take a bath for weeks, and Im talking all over the world.

Yeah, no wonder they were so cranky.

So, I'm converted now? Or after I take my shower?

I don't feel any different.

Hope I can still get drunk every weekend and carouse with whores!

Alcohol, forbidden. Adultery, forbidden. Wine counts as alcohol and is thus forbidden.

Yeah, but *wink, wink* I'll just ask Allah for forgiveness on my death bed. I planned on pulling the same scam when I was a Christian a few minutes ago.

Christianity's ok, but there's no virgins at the end. I just know that I can probably go through a lot of virgins if given an eternity. I mean, I hope that 7 virgins thing ain't true. I mean, that's not even a good weekend's worth.

Scam? If God is merciful, and if you did indeed ask sincerly, then you might just be forgiven.

What 7 virgin thing? Remember, in heaven you can do anything, its your reward for good deeds.

Anything? Even sin? Man, that kicks ass! I should have converted a long time ago.

Thanks!

Lol, doesn't take a genious to figure that out. I knew all along man, a person doesn't usually convert to a religion after a quick chat.

Eh...I'm easy. Was due for a change.

Actually, I'm an atheist. I think if God really existed or wanted his will to be known there'd be no question at all about it. None of this silly religion vs. religion stuff.

Thanks for the info on Islam, though. 8)

No problem.

But I have a question.

What came before the Big Bang? (And yes, I belive in that theory.)

No clue. It's beyond me.

Then why follow atheism?

You don't really "follow" atheism, as it's not a religion.

I guess I'm more of an agnostic than an atheist, but that's just because atheism says "there's no God" and agnosticism says "there's no way to know if there is a god or not."

When I say I am an atheist I mean I worship no God, believe in none of the religions, and don't think good or evil exist outside of man's conception of it.

Ok, I see. But how did the universe start out? That is my prime focus. There isn't really a way to see God. Its just faith and good works.

I don't know, but that's no reason to believe that anybody else does either. I have no discomfort not knowing. Really. I don't care.

Myths about gods and the creation of the world are countless, and vary from culture to culture. Since early man was very superstitious (more so than now? maybe!) so myths became facts, and they spread quite easily. Then, once hitting critical mass, everybody believed them. There's legitamacy in numbers, even though the individual person just accepted the "truth" as did everyone else.

What if there were infinite big bangs? Heard of entropy? The universe collapsing on itself? What if the point of total collapse is also the big bang...ever see those expanding sphere toys?

Over and over and over...

It's as good an explanation as any.

This present lack of scientific knowledge is not a good defense for a particular religion...

Anyway, I think all religions have their own explanations for the origins of existence...most leave enough room open for scientific inquiry as well...

What if science finds a plausible solution to the problem of the big bang? Will religion disappear? Prolly not.

starved4life? Poor agnostic. :crying:

After seeing his/her (I don't really know) posts, I would consider myself a moron if I believed for a minute that saved4life wasn't being sarcastic.
