Exorcising demons is in the bible. Usually done by Jesus or some of the apostles. Others tried as well as we see in the book of Acts:

13 Now some also of the Jewish exorcists, who went about, attempted to invoke over them that had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying: I conjure you by Jesus, whom Paul preacheth. 14 And there were certain men, seven sons of Sceva, a Jew, a chief priest, that did this. 15 But the wicked spirit, answering, said to them: Jesus I know: and Paul I know. But who are you? 16 And the man in whom the wicked spirit was, leaping upon them and mastering them both, prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

While demons DO exist and we HAVE been offered that they CAN be 'cast out', I am NOT sure that exorcism as practiced by many are ABLE to DO what many 'claim'.

We have the example offered that 'even those GIVEN such authority' were NOT able to, at times' cast out demons for their 'lack of faith', it would be 'unwise' to practice such WITHOUT diving inspiration and instruction SPECIFIC to those demons in possession of a body.

I believe that it is MORE important that the one POSSESSED be of 'faith' and to simply recognize and ASK for deliverance. God IS faithful to those that are faithful TO Him. There is LITTLE that can be NEEDED and asked for that will NOT be offered so far as God's children are concerned.

The apostolic era is PAST. We are to NOW live by FAITH. BE faithful and God WILL deliver those in NEED. The important issue is the ability to RECOGNIZE the answers to our prayers...........

While demons DO exist and we HAVE been offered that they CAN be 'cast out' [sic]......

On April 16, 2007, Seung-Hui Cho killed 32 people on the campus of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech).
The massacre is the deadliest shooting incident by a single gunman in United States history.

As to why Cho did this, there are two competing theories.
Some concluded that Cho was suffering from mental illness while others, his mother being one of them, thought that he was possessed by evil spirits.
Instead of taking her son to a doctor she went from church to church looking for one that would perform an exorcism.
She found one.

Apparently, not all demons were properly removed, and the cost was 32 dead Americans and 1 dead Cho.
