Bible Study Are The Laws Done Away With?

if you recognise that and start learning from God how to apply His laws to your life today you will be blessed

This statement assumes that I don’t.

Because I understand that the laws that were contained In ordinances under Moses were temporary and have been nailed to the cross.

My focus is on Christ and His doctrine, living by the Spirit, to be led by the Spirit.

The Spirit does not lead us to keep the law of Moses, (not to be confused with Judaism, a man made religion that rejects Jesus as Messiah).

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5:18

Jesus purified all food.

So He said to them, “Are you thus without understanding also? Do you not perceive that whatever enters a man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not enter his heart but his stomach, and is eliminated, thus purifying all foods?”
Mark 7:18-19

Paul taught that the Sabbaths and festivals were shadows and Christ is the substance.

So let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ. Colossians 2:16-17

Let’s spend our time seeking Christ, and teaching “His doctrine”, rather than teaching man made laws that have no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
Colossians 2:20-23

613 laws - http://www.jewfaq.org/613.htm

What do those scriptures say brother?

Why don’t you post them, so we can study and compare to what Jesus and His Apostles taught?

if you insist of thinking of God's laws as a way to be saved you will continue to be on a different track that i am speaking on

Why do you keep referring to an obsolete set of commandments as God’s law?

  • The law of Moses does not apply to the Church.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5:18

  • It’s been abolished in His flesh.

having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace,
Ephesians 2:15

  • It’s been wiped out, and taken out of the way.

having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:14

  • The law of Moses was always meant to be temporary until the Messiah has come.

What purpose then does the law serve? It was added because of transgressions, till the Seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was appointed through angels by the hand of a mediator. Galatians 3:19

  • Now we are under the law of Christ, and are to obey His commandments and His doctrine, as He is the Mediator of the New Covenant just as Moses was the mediator of the covenant at Sinai, which is why it was called the law of Moses.

Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.
Galatians 6:2

Whoever transgresses and does not abide in the doctrine of Christ does not have God. He who abides in the doctrine of Christ has both the Father and the Son. 2 John 9

I definitely believe God’s law and His doctrine are all about salvation.

I believe Jesus is Lord, YHWH.

I also believe the law of Moses is not required for the Church since it has been abolished in His flesh, and fulfilled by Christ.

But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
Galatians 5:18

Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who hear you.

Actually what was nailed to the cross were the legal charges -- "the charge sheet" -- against every sinner. The sin debt was canceled at the cross for those who believe.
the charge of our legal indebtedness which stood against us (NIV)
the record of the charges against us (NLT)
the record of debt that stood against us (ESV)

i practice judaism and i am saved

I honestly believe you make this statement because you don’t understand what the religion of Judaism is.

God did NOT give the children of Israel the religion of Judaism.

God gave them the law of Moses, which was added until Messiah should come.

Judaism is a man made religion that is a mixture of the law of Moses and the traditions (teachings) of man.

For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and tried to destroy it. And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. Galatians 1:13-14

For Moses said, Honor your father and your mother’; and, He who curses father or mother, let him be put to death.’ But you say, ‘If a man says to his father or mother, “Whatever profit you might have received from me is Corban”—’ (that is, a gift to God), then you no longer let him do anything for his father or his mother, making the word of God of no effect through your tradition which you have handed down. And many such things you do. Mark 7:10-13

The law of Moses was given to point the children of Israel to Christ.

Judaism is a mixture of man made teachings and the law of Moses which distorts Gods word.

Those who practice Judaism murdered Christ.

Those who practice Judaism murdered Christ’s followers.

Judaism denies Jesus as the Messiah.

Judaism is an antichrist religion.

Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 1 John 2:22-23

The law of Moses is not Judaism.

How can you say you practice Judaism, which denies Jesus as the Messiah?

Makes absolutely no sense!!!

Please repent of practicing Judaism.

Peter called those first century Jews who practiced Judaism to repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus.

Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38

It is the exact same Scripture. "The handwriting of ordinances" (KJB) is the same thing as the record of charges (or certificate of debt) against it.

ἐξαλείψας χειρόγραφον δόγμασιν καθ’ ὃ
(exaleipsas cheirographon dogmasin kath o
having cancelled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us

This is similar to charges brought against a criminal in a court of law and a verdict of "Guilty" by the judge. Those charges related to our sin debt were nailed to the cross when Christ was made "SIN" for us. Not the laws which were broken.

Why must he repent to for practicing his walk of Faith? Does this practice offend YOU such that you must demand repentance? Or are you sitting in the seat of another?

Let’s examine what Paul, who is an expert in the law, is saying.

having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross. Colossians 2:14

Paul is quoting Moses, when he uses the phrase...

the handwriting of requirements that was against us

This is referring to the law of Moses as he was dying and giving Joshua instructions.

“Take this Book of the Law, and put it beside the ark of the covenant of the Lord your God, that it may be there as a witness against you; Deuteronomy 31:26

The handwriting of requirements that was against us refers directly to the law of Moses.

Repent of practicing or being affiliated with Judaism which is a religion that denies Jesus as Messiah.

Not repent of walking in faith.

Please read what I actually posted please so you won’t be confused about what I’m saying.

The handwriting of requirements that was against us refers directly to the law of Moses.
First of all, there is no such translation as you have presented above (unless its your own). The closest to it is here: Weymouth New Testament
The bond, with its requirements, which was in force against us and was hostile to us, He cancelled, and cleared it out of the way, nailing it to His Cross.

This handwritten "bond" is the list of charges brought against the sinner for violating God's laws. That is how almost all the translations have it.

LITERAL (corresponding exactly to the Greek)

King James Bible
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Young's Literal Translation (not quite accurate)
having blotted out the handwriting in the ordinances that is against us, that was contrary to us, and he hath taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross;

NON-LITERAL
New International Version
having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.
New Living Translation
He canceled the record of the charges against us and took it away by nailing it to the cross.
English Standard Version
by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
Berean Study Bible
having canceled the debt ascribed to us in the decrees that stood against us. He took it away, nailing it to the cross!
Berean Literal Bible
having blotted out the handwriting in the decrees against us, which was adverse to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
New American Standard Bible
having canceled out the certificate of debt consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.
Christian Standard Bible
He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it away by nailing it to the cross.
Contemporary English Version
God wiped out the charges that were against us for disobeying the Law of Moses. He took them away and nailed them to the cross.
Holman Christian Standard Bible
He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross.
International Standard Version
having erased the charges that were brought against us, along with their obligations that were hostile to us. He took those charges away when he nailed them to the cross.
GOD'S WORD® Translation
He did this by erasing the charges that were brought against us by the written laws God had established. He took the charges away by nailing them to the cross.
American Standard Version
having blotted out the bond written in ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us: and he hath taken it out that way, nailing it to the cross;

So what is expressed here is that the charges against sinners based upon the Law of Moses (which includes the Ten Commandments) were canceled at the cross. The Ten Commandments were NOT canceled at the cross, but our sin debt -- based on those commandments -- was canceled.

For anyone to claim that the Ten Commandments were canceled at the cross would be a violation of the New Covenant, which includes the Ten Commandments.

By this statement it’s clear you haven’t actually read anything I have posted.

By this statement it’s clear you haven’t actually read anything I have posted.
This is what you said, and it is incorrect.
"The handwriting of requirements that was against us refers directly to the law of Moses."
What you should have said is "refers directly to OUR VIOLATIONS of the Law of Moses". Big difference.

So do you agree or not? The Law of Moses was not nailed to the cross. The charges against us for violating the Law of Moses were nailed to the cross and canceled.

Are you not the one calling for his repentance?

I’m asking him to repent, which in this context means for him to “turn away” from practicing Judaism, a religion that openly denies Jesus as Messiah.

Who is a liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son does not have the Father either; he who acknowledges the Son has the Father also. 1 John 2:22-23

Do you believe it is right in the eyes of God to practice, which would mean validate, a religion that denies Jesus as Messiah?

If someone want to practice keeping feast days, or dietary laws or whatever in the law of Moses, they feel Ben it’s them then that is great.

However there is a line that we should be aware of that if we cross, we are in great danger.

That line is thinking that it’s a sin to eat pork, or shrimp of not practice the Sabbath keeping according to Moses or not keeping the Passover... so we do or not do these things in the law to be righteous.

Paul says it this way -

Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law.
Galatians 5:2-3

So I order to keep the law the first thing a person must do s become circumcised.

If a Christian becomes circumcised because they believe it is God command, (in order to be righteous) then they are obligated to keep all the law of Moses.

You have become estranged (severed) from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. Galatians 5:3

Severed from Christ is pretty serious, don’t you agree ?

JLB

JLB

I endorse the Lord to sit on His thrown and trust to His judgements. Who are you that you should climb into the seat of Moses declaring right from wrong? Have you not understood the gospel?

It’s a simple question.

Would you teach your children to embrace and practice a religion that openly rejects Jesus as Messiah?

Again the law of Moses is not Judaism.
