Are you an animal?

Biology classifies living things as: (majorly) plants and animals.

I am a human being - not an animal. A clever word is, higher organism/animal or whatever. I'm a human being.

What are you? What does the bible say?

If one claims s/he is an animal then that person probably believes all about darwolution.

ok, well we have a body. I believe god made it but it has things in common with an animal. I don't believe god literaly has hands, arms and feet and eyes. how does a being have that and also be everywhere at the same time? a shape is defined. while I do see that jesus is in heaven with a body. but again this isn't the topic about the visions of god in the bible. which no one can fully grasp.

I am a human. I think that animals are controlled by biological urges in their environment. I'm not sure if that's the correct way to word it, but I read somewhere that one difference is that humans have free will and animals don't.

the question should be are were more then just a fleshly body that we see?

The bible says man was created separate from the animals and that he was to have dominion over them.

Genesis 1
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

God saw fit to separate the two. I see no need to undo that.

According to the dictionary, an animal is... "any member of the kingdom Animalia, comprising multicellular organisms that have a well-defined shape and usually limited growth, can move voluntarily, actively acquire food and digest it internally, and have sensory and nervous systems that allow them to respond rapidly to stimuli: some classification schemes also include protozoa and certain other single-celled eukaryotes that have motility and animallike".
(Emphasis by TOG)

I think that describes humans pretty well. Biologically, we are animals. (The two other kingdoms of multicelular organisms are plants and fungi, and I don't think most people would want to be called either of those.) Spiritually, however, we are much more than the other animals. We are the only animals that can have a relationship with God.

If one claims s/he is an animal then that person probably believes all about darwolution.

I admit to being an animal, biologically speaking, but I don't believe in the theory of evolution.

We're created in God's image. To me, that means that we have things that animals seem to lack--a conscience, a spirit that survives death, consciousness of our own mortality.

I think an animal at times, depending on the species is quite aware that it can die and do mourn for another. ie my dog wasn't the same when sasha was put to sleep. she also senses mood changes and has emotions. I think we are higher then they are but its not all that simple.

bring forth the discussion on what a soul is.

Biologically I'm an animal. It doesn't bother me much.

Another difference I just remembered.

Ecclesiastes 3
21 Who knoweth the spirit of man that goeth upward, and the spirit of the beast that goeth downward to the earth?

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23 KJV

Animals have a body, but do animals have spirit and soul?

Animals will be included in God's new earth. The lion will hang out with the lamb and eat grass, and so on.
that doesn't mean the doggie has to be saved. or has free will. they don't. god did allow us to eat animals after the flood.

According to the scientific definition, humans are animals. So it depends on what kind of definition you go by, I guess. If one's definition of an animal is "life form that's not a plant lacking higher intelligence", then humans aren't animals. (I'm not an evolutionist.)
Scientific/biological definition: a living organism that feeds on organic matter, typically having specialized sense organs and nervous system and able to respond rapidly to stimuli.
(I pulled the definition off the top of the Google search results for "animal definition".)

The Bible does say we're over the animals, so since we go by the Bible we're not on the same level.

In God's original creation humans were vegetarians. Eating animals is part of our fallen world.
Also, humans don't have a free will.

That is to say humans are higher animals?

We are told that we are made in GOD's image, right?
