Re: Are you confident that, what you believe will guarantee your eternal destination
My friend, once you are "born again Spiritually" you "cannot" become unsaved...The Scriptures say, in 1 john 5:13, "These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God."
God wants EVERY believer to have "utmost" assurance of their "salvation."
No person has absolute assurance of salvation. He can freely choose to reject or deny Christ by his sinful actions up until the moment of his death.
Believe is an action verb. Some people only
believe for a little while and then they
fall away from the faith through sin. If a person falls away from the faith, he is no longer saved:
Luke 8:11-14 "Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God. 12 Those by the wayside are the ones who hear; then the devil comes and takes away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13
But the ones on the rock are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, who believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away. 14 Now the ones that fell among thorns are those who, when they have heard, go out and are choked with cares, riches, and pleasures of life, and bring no fruit to maturity."
The people who
believe for a while and in time of temptation fall away are no longer saved.
2 Peter 2:18-20 "For when they speak great swelling words of emptiness, they allure through the lusts of the flesh, through lewdness, the ones who have actually escaped[a] from those who live in error. 19 While they promise them liberty, they themselves are slaves of corruption; for by whom a person is overcome, by him also he is brought into bondage. 20
For if, after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the latter end is worse for them than the beginning."
Peter warns the believers to not be led astray by false teachers or else they will be worse off than if they had never come to Christ at all.
Hebrews 10:26-27 "For
if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries."
Sinning
sins leading to death separates us from God. His Holy Spirit no longer abides in us when we sin spiritually deadly sins.
2 Peter 1:5-11 "But also for this very reason, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue, to virtue knowledge, 6 to knowledge self-control, to self-control perseverance, to perseverance godliness, 7 to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For if these things are yours and abound, you will be neither barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins. 10
Therefore, brethren, be even more diligent to make your call and election sure, for if you do these things you will never stumble; 11 for so an entrance will be supplied to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."
No one on earth knows for sure if he is one of God's
elect. We must be diligent in our obedience to God's commands so that we can continue to have hope that we are one of God's
elect. Until we die and are judged, we cannot be absolutely sure that we are saved.
