Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

Rachel:

There are a lot of books out there, I think, which deal with the subject of combining what's tasteful with modesty.

Often 'you just know', I guess.

I do think a lot of emphasis needs to be put on books on Christian doctrine; the central tenets of the Biblical faith, and so forth. God works inwardly, to the outside via the inward. Maybe your local church has got a book collection, or would consider one.

Blessings.

Yeah, some people need those types of books, but it is really natural for me.

I agree, doctrine and theology is the most important. My mom actually has a lot of them from over the years and you can sometimes find some for free on Kindle so I have a giant stack I am trying to work through.

I guess it's hit and miss!

But you do need a love for words, yes, if you are going to write.

It must be interesting for you to work in a library, anyway.

My dad wrote a book and couldn't get published because 1. it is hard enough already and 2. he wanted to write a book with the gospel and publishers don't want that. Thankfully he was able to self-publish his book on Amazon.

Rachel:

Sounds an excellent idea, anyway. It's in this way that we discerningly imbibe Biblical doctrine, as we compare Scripture with Scripture, for our own and other people's profit and encouragement.

Blessings.

Rachel:

So was it a Christian book, specifically, that he wrote?

Blessings.

It is, but he wrote it so that non-Christians could enjoy it too and hear the gospel. It is also to help people learn how to evangelize. It is a fictional novel though with the end times as a backdrop.

Rachel: Oh okay; sounds like the 'Left Behind' series, Jerry Jenkins, a bit, maybe.

Blessings.

Rachel: Health permitting, since you're a real book person, it seems, would you maybe consider one day working in a library? it can be a very interesting career, and there are often folk there writing stuff, who ask for advice, and so forth.

Blessings.

I really don't know. It would depend on what I felt the Lord wanted me to do at that time in my life. Spending the day in a library does sound like it would be a nice job though!

Rachel: I think so, too! but it also takes quite a lot of discipline to multi-task, in a library, as well. I think women are often better at multi-tasking than men. I guess being a librarian or librarian's assistant can be a particularly good career for a woman, anyway.

Blessings.

I do enjoy multitasking, I usually am doing at least two things at once if I can. I do think that is a good job as well, especially one who loves to learn.

Rachel: Well yes, this is probably why a lot of employers like to hire women with certain office skills and a flair for multitasking; while it's the men who often sit at their desks slightly resentfully and finding multitasking harder because it doesn't fit their idea of empire building.

Blessings.

My husband has illustrated a few children's books and is working on one about Noah,
Drawing, and a Christian sci-fi one.

I'd like to write a book myself just wouldn't know where to start.

Christian sci-fi is an interesting genre.

A bit like C S Lewis, maybe?
