Atheism And Ceasing To Exist Oblivion.

Atheism And Ceasing To Exist Oblivion.
By JAG

When you die, is that the end of you?
Or do you continue to live on and on somewhere after you die?

Atheists answer those questions as follows:

Some atheists say they do not know if humans cease to
exist after death, that there may be an afterlife.

Many other atheists say that humans DO cease to exist after
death. The following remarks are addressed to those atheists
who we can correctly label "Humans-Cease-To-Exist-Atheists."

Cockroaches . . .

On Humans-Cease-To-Exist Atheism there is no ultimate difference
in the end of a human being and a cockroach, in that both have the
same ultimate destiny, namely oblivion as in ceasing to exist. This is
a very sad position to hold and believe.

House plants . . .

On Humans-Cease-To-Exist Atheism there is no ultimate difference
in the end of a human being and a house plant, in that both have the
same ultimate destiny, namely oblivion as in ceasing to exist. The same
very sad thought.

Question for Humans-Cease-To-Exist-Atheists: How does it make
you feel to believe that you have no more ultimate worth and value
than a house plant and a cockroach?

Or dead critters smashed in road kills . . . .
{they cease to exist too }

Again, that which ceases to exist has no ultimate worth and value.
Nothing cannot be valuable. Cockroaches and house plants die and
cease to exist. They cease to be valuable. They become trash to be
collected and discarded.

Get set for some repetition . . . .

On Cease-To-Exist Atheism you eventually cease to exist and that
which has ceased to exist has become a zero. Atheists do have
worth and value in the present to their own selves and in their
own mind and in their own feelings. And they do have present
worth and value to their family and to their friends. However on
Cease-To-Exist Atheism atheists have no ultimate worth and
value because they ultimately become nothing. Zero. 0.0000

Atheists can make valuable contributions to humanity and they can
leave behind that value, for example if an atheist finds a cure for a
disease -- but the atheist himself, on his atheism, has no ultimate
worth and value because on atheism he ceases to exist and that
which has ceased to exist has become a zero 0000000 and a zero
is not valuable. He ONCE WAS valuable --- but now that he has,
on atheism, become a zero, he is no longer valuable.

Ultimate definition: "being or happening at the end of a process."
On Cease-To-Exist Atheism atheists will cease to exist at the end
of the process of their lives.

That which no longer exists is not worth anything.
Its utterly impossible for nothing to be valuable.
And on Cease-To-Exist Atheism, they end up
ultimately in oblivion, as in nothing. Zero.

Why do I keep repeating this?
Because repetition is the mother of learning.
And because , , , ,

This is very sad. Atheism is pure sadness.

No future.

No hope.

No more love. No more music. No more good movies.
No more friends. No more satisfying relationships.
No more beauty. No more sunsets to enjoy. No more
good food to enjoy. No more beautiful images to enjoy.
Name one, just one, good thing about ceasing to exist.
Name it:

Contrast Christendom's great doctrines of Eternal Life.

"For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that
whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life." John 3:16

"My sheep listen to my voice, I know them, and they follow me, I give them
eternal life and they shall never perish." John 10:27-28

Another awesome post. Thank you. As a side note…

Pope John Paul II writes about the culture of death in a piece from the 90s or so. Obviously I am not Catholic but I find it insightful. Basically the broad road in modern culture is all about death. Divorce abortion celebration of sodomy materialism atheism self love suicide…on and on and on.

And then there’s Jesus Christ who blesses us with life and that more abundantly. I just thought I’d mention that essay in case you might want to check it out.

Seriously thanks again.

Thank you CE, much appreciated and thank you for reading what I wrote.
Also thanks for the mention of the article.
I'd be glad to read it. Do you have a link for me?

Best.

I would think all atheist's believe they are just flesh otherwise they would have to answer "where did your spirit come from?"

As atheists they are disobedient to the greatest commandment. So they are not good.
“Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’

Of course we believe in a resurrection of the unrighteous to judgment as in to be condemned.

I'm an Atheist. If your post is to convince me to be sad that one day I'll die, I can acknowledge that that is indeed sad, but that's life. Things end. I won't be conscious of my life being over. I will cease. I use that to motivate to cherish the people around me for the time I have with them, and to enjoy the time I have. I don't need to have more intrinsic value than a plant or bug to enjoy a hug from a friend or a beautiful day :)

If you think from Genesis through Revelation is all bunch of lies as in liars your free to do so. If a Christian tried to convince you otherwise it would be for YOUR good as their names are already written in heaven. You have been around since 2012. I hope you see the light before your body dies. In Christ is life and that life is a light to all mankind. That light shines in the darkness and the darkness can not overcome it.

I do think Christians think it would be for my own good to accept the gospel. I just disagree.

None of us have ever seen God or Christ Jesus face to face, but know Him by His Spirit that dwells in us. I would rather live my life believing there is a God that will save me from the torments of damnation as I will have a new life with Him in paradise, then to live my life thinking there is no God to find out to late He is very real and now I am damned to the lake of fire forever.

WHAT YOU REJECT CAN HARM YOU

Hosea 4:6
God will reject you and your family

2 Timothy 2:15-19
Study to show yourself approved

2 Timothy 3:16
Prove this word is true

Genesis 12:1
4 covenant promises

1 Corinthians 15:51-58
Sting of death is unbelief

Matthew 27:15-17
Rejecting knowledge that is before you

Luke 23:18-25
Who leads you into your decisions?

Galatians 3:1-5
Why do you turn away from truth?

John 3:3; Romans 10:7, 8
You must be born again and confess

Proverbs 18:20, 21
Life and death are in the power of the tongue

Matthew 12:31-37
Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks

Hebrews 4:12, 13
Word of God is sharper than a two edged sword

Deuteronomy 27 and 28
cursing and blessings

That's cool. I am not comming from a angle if trying to disprove this to anyone right now. I mostly responded to this thread because the angle of trying to reason how atheists are is dehumanizing. It's more about othering than trying to get a long term believer. It's marketing that focuses on getting the sale, but not the retention. Focusing on emotional appeals is a very shaking bridge because then a person ties their emotional state to the product, rather than a process.

No one should do any kind of move on emotions as emotions can be very deceiving. We can't give tangible proof to anyone that God exist, but can only testify of how we came to Him and to know Him in our own life.

Me personally I know what God has done for me in my life and that is my witness and testimony, but I could never make anyone come to Him. Only the Holy Spirit convicts and draws us to Christ, but many have harden their heart towards Him and refuse that calling as their hearts can not feel the conviction.

You claim to be a atheist. The things written in the testimony can't be mistaken. Therefore the only reasonable conclusion is you believe the bible is made up testimonies.

That is correct, I don't believe in a God or gods.

Not necessarily. I can believe peo0le can be mistaken or wrote what they believe to be true. That is far from an implication of it being intentional lies. I don't read Redwall or Lird of the rings and call that lies.

Like Jesus suddenly alive again before them.
John caught up in the "spirit" to heaven.

People healed, raised to life by Jesus.

The raging storm stilled at Jesus's command.

The voice that thundered from above:
For we did not follow cleverly devised stories when we told you about the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ in power, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. He received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased

Despite what you state these things can't be mistaken

Moses, God leading them out of Egypt. God coming down to the mountain top. The prophets and all the words of the Lord spoken through them.

Mary
“My soul glorifies the Lord
47 and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 for he has been mindful
of the humble state of his servant.
From now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 for the Mighty One has done great things for me—
holy is his name.
50 His mercy extends to those who fear him,
from generation to generation.
51 He has performed mighty deeds with his arm;
he has scattered those who are proud in their inmost thoughts.
52 He has brought down rulers from their thrones
but has lifted up the humble.
53 He has filled the hungry with good things
but has sent the rich away empty.
54 He has helped his servant Israel,
remembering to be merciful
55 to Abraham and his descendants forever,
just as he promised our ancestors.”

The birth of Jesus annouced to the shepards at night.
Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying,

14“Glory to God in the highest heaven,

and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”

15When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, “Let’s go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about.”

The problem is that living involves intent. Most of the Bible was written from oral tradition. So I do think people believed what they wrote was true.

Do you think that a non spiritual world, or pieces of it, can recognize itself? Would you say that your sense of existence is chemically dependent so to speak?

Do I think something that isn't spiritual can recognize itself? Sure. If by chemical dependant, you mean that I perceive the world through physical means we understand to be physical and chemical laws? sure.
