Baptism with fire?

When John the baptist talks about the two baptisms, he talks about the judgement of fire.

Is the baptism of the holy spirit salvation, and the fire baptism the contrasting judgement?

The only two baptisms that i know of John the baptist speaking of was water and the Holy Spirit. So maybe you could give us a chapter and verse? Thanks
 
Matthew 3:11 "I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me will come one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not fit to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

It goes on to say about either gathering you to the barn, or burning you in the fire.
 
I believe the Holy Spirit, and the 'fire' are the same thing.

Chaff is the part of the wheat stalk that is disposed of. In the baptism of the Spirit, the chaff--the useless, hardened, outer husk of our flesh nature--is burned away, while the fruit of the plant is separated out and is harvested to our Master's pleasure. For the believer who has been baptized in the Spirit, the Holy Spirit does both; it divides the good from bad, burning off the undesirable parts of the wheat stalk, and harvesting the good.
 
fire can be used to purge and and make a vessel of honor re:potter and the clay the final stage of the pottery is the fire. fiery trial of our faith.. just my thoughts on
 
1Pet 4:16 but if anyone suffers as a Christian, he is not to be ashamed, but is to glorify God in this name. Our God is all that we need Him to be. But what if we are stubborn and continue in our sin? Prov 11:31 If the righteous will be rewarded in the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner! Judgment in the earth.

Hosea prophesied of this (Hos 10:8 NIV)
The high places of wickedness will be destroyed-- it is the sin of Israel. Thorns and thistles will grow up and cover their altars. Then they will say to the mountains, "Cover us!" and to the hills, "Fall on us!"

In Luke 23 and at the time of the crucifixion we hear the Holy Spirit ask, "For if people do these things when the tree is green, what will happen when it is dry?”

It is a mistake to think that judgment comes only to the Godless. We, being wicked, need it.

My father when he teaches on this subject uses the analogy of the purification of steel. The process of creating steel starts with the heating of iron. The intense heat causes the impurities to separate and float to the top. The floating impurities or dross are then removed leaving pure iron aka steel.

Not the separation of the saved and the burning of the lost?

Though it's true that the wicked will be burned up like hay, straw, and stubble in the Judgment (Obadiah 1:15-18 NASB, 1 Corinthians 3:12-14 NASB), I don't see how he's referring specifically to the burning of the lost in this case since the same people who get baptized with the Holy Spirit are the ones who also get baptized with fire.

Now that you are saved, you should ask the Lord to baptize you with the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:4).

While it is certainly true the Holy Spirit came into your heart and life the moment of your Salvation, still, He now wishes to endure you with power from on high. Consequently, Jesus told all of His followers immediately before His Ascension, that they should "wait for the Promise of the Father" (Acts 1:4). He was speaking of being "Baptized with the Holy Spirit" (Acts 1:5).

You must understand that there is a great difference in being "born of the Spirit" than being " Baptized with the Spirit." They are two different works altogether.

To be "born of the Spirit" is that which took place at your conversion, as the holy Spirit brought you to Christ and performed the work of regeneration within your heart and life. To be "Baptized with the Spirit" is in order that you may have Power with God (Acts 1:8). Every Believer should ask the lord to fill them with the Holy Spirit, and expect to receive (Luke 11:13).

John spoke to the crowd about Jesus. He said he would baptize them with the Holy Ghost and with fire. Some of them would be saved. Some lost. There were saved and lost in the crowd.

Surely, but I don't sense that it's a reference to the complete destruction of the wicked.

Yosef, thumb through your yellow pages for 'Non denominational', or 'Spirit Filled' churches. Check out their web sites if they have one. Start attending them and when you feel comfortable with one ask them to pray for you for the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Though there is really no reason why you can't pray for it yourself I think you should prolly get some faith filled people interceding for you and laying hands on you.

Without the baptism of the Spirit I would say a Christian only has about 10% of the Christian experience going for him.

Gold and silver is purified in the same way.
Pro 25:4 Take away dross from silver, And a vessel for the refiner goeth forth,

Mal 3:2 And who is bearing the day of his coming? And who is standing in his appearing? For he is as fire of a refiner, And as soap of a fuller.
Mal 3:3 And he hath sat, a refiner and purifier of silver, And he hath purified the sons of Levi, And hath refined them as gold and as silver, And they have been to Yehovah bringing nigh a present in righteousness.

If they can't help you with the baptism of the Holy Spirit move on.

Non-denominational does not mean Spirit-filled. But the Spirit-filled movements are, generally speaking, the ones who have fled the traditional denominations to teach and live out the truths of the baptism of the Holy Spirit. That's why I recommend looking there. Some advertise straight out that they are Spirit-filled.

so what would you consider filled with the spirit /baptism of the spirit? {Some advertise straight out that they are Spirit-filled.} yes some advertise every thing and are not.. good point..
 
I believe it is the California Redwood, the Sequoia to be exact, that is the only tree that I know of that its seed bearing fruit can only bring forth new life after it has been exposed to fire.
