BCS Busting

Yep, even though I pulled up the AP Poll this morning, and the poll showed 'Bama's loss, it still had Alabama at #1. Now I see the same as you.

I like this, I like seeing BSU in #3 with one of the teams ahead of us being a team that we have pounded in the past. Not a bad ranking all in all. :thumbsup

I'm with you though, Alabama dropped down far more than I would have expected.

Sorry about Toledo, there Mike, but Boise has to play each and every game as if they were going against Ohio or Alabama. It's not personal, it's just business!

Speaking of teams that come out of nowhere to become champions:

My beloved #23 Air Force Academy will be playing #4 Texas Christian this Saturday. Please pray for a miracle.

:D

We'll see!

Vince, sorry buddy, but I think if TCU were to lose to AFA, it would hurt the Broncos'. This is part of the unenviable position the Broncos' are in...not only is every game they play have to be played to the hilt, but every team they play must play strong against some opponents, and weak against others.

Now, if the Ducks or the Buckeyes were to lose to AFA, it would probably help Boise. But, not TCU. If TCU were to play either Ohio or Alabama, and lose, it would be OK, and if the point spread was close, it would even be helpful...
...but a TCU loss to AFA...just wouldn't be good. Our point spreads when we win against TCU just hasn't been wide enough and TCU was the last team the Broncos' lost to.

Perhaps the others will pray for your request though! :thumbsup

In the AP poll, Boise is now #2!!! We are behind Oregon. I remember Oregon. I remember that Oregon only got 6 first-downs to BSU's 22 the last time we played them. :lol

Boise remains in 3rd place behind the Oklahoma Sooners and the Oregon Ducks in the BCS standings.

Not bad, I like 3rd place in the BCS standings at this juncture....:chin

What this means, Handy, is that you need to be fasting and praying for Air Force to Beat TCU this Saturday. (I messed up. I had thought it was last Saturday.) That will lessen the competition for Boise State.

Also, Handy, I propose a deal. If you'll root for the Phillies in the World Series, I'll root for Boise State in the BCS bowls.

I might as well. None of my teams have a chance.

Easy deal to make, Vince!!!! I am rooting for the Phillies. I could care less about baseball, baseball to me is ...yawn....but, especially with that no-hitter the other day, I've been impressed with your Phillies. :thumbsup

So, deal accepted!

Cha cha cha!

:smt056 Sorry Vince! There's always next year! Meanwhile, you can pull up beside me and eat Idaho Pizza Company Pizza and we can root for the Boys on the Blue!

Wonder who the BCS is going to leap-frog over Boise next? First it was Ohio State. They lost. So then Oklahoma (yeah that team we beat). Then OU lost. Now it's Auburn.

And the Ducks.

The 19-8 Ducks.

No, 19-8 does not represent Oregon's win/loss stats. 19-8 was the score the last time BSU beat their pin-feathers off! And, the score doesn't even begin to tell the story.

Anyway, we're 21-0 now continuing the winning streak with an easy victory over LA Tech. Some stats for your reading enjoyment:
Boise State is has now logged their 59th consecutive win at home, beating Miami's record. We have won 33 of the past 34 games.

Next up, Hawaii, which should be a good game. I'm looking forward to the Hawaii game!

Handy and Vince both got killed in a plane crash, and St. Peter was showing Vince around Heaven. "We have a housing shortage," St. Peter apologized, and most people have to share an apartment. But you deserve your own house." So he took Vince to a one-bedroom house with a Phillies flag flying from the porch.

Looking up the street, Vince saw a magnificent mansion with a Boise State Broncos flag flying from the porch. "Hey!" Vince complained. "How come Handy gets a mansion and I only get a little house?"

"That isn't Handy's house," explained St. Peter. "That's where I live."

Oooh. I just read that Michigan State is playing Boise State first game of the season in 2012-2014. Now the Irish are my first love, but I'm defensive of the Big Ten and I love me some Michigan & Michigan State too.

Look at Boise gettin' all big boy with their schedule and such. Good for Boise State! :D

#2 in the polls, #3 in BCS rankings!!

Back when I first moved here, back in 1995, BSU football was in disarray. The coach, ledgendary Pokey Anderson was fighting cancer, and loseing. I forget exactly when he died, but it took a while for the team to move on. Actually, I don't think anyone that Pokey actually coached "moved on" except to graduate. Boise then went through several coaches, mainly taking the job at Boise to position themselves to go onto bigger and better schools.

It wasn't until Dan Hawkins came along that the team finally got pulled together to start winning some football. Coach Hawk brought the team it's first undefeated season since I don't know when. It was under Coach Hawk that the Bronco's started to really believe that they could go all the way....then Coach Hawk left.

I don't blame Hawkins, everybody has to make their own decisions, but it just seemed as if BSU was going to always get the fuzzy end of the lolipop.

Hawkins' leaving was a blessing in disguise. Up until then, Coach Pete was somewhat of an unknown quantity to everyone outside the team. I know a lot of people really scratched their head at the choice of having him move into the head coaching slot, rather than trying to woo some outside talent. At the time though, my husband's client was the son of one of the coaches, and he said that the coaches were pumped that Christ Peterson was heading the team. They knew something that the rest of us could only guess at. But, wow!!! What a coach we have in Peterson. And, the fact that he has been offered some pretty good money at some pretty good schools, but remains here at Boise State!

Anyway, maybe this year my Broncos will go all the way, or maybe the BCS nazis will shut us out to the "kid's table" yet again. But, as we move into the Moutain West, hopefully with a somewhat better roster and playing non-confrence games, and winning them, against teams like VA Tech and yes, Michigan (yo, Mike!) we'll continue to prove that the Bronco's are indeed worthy of their rise to the top!!!!:nod

:smt056

No fun shots here, 'cause I've been on that side of a heart breaker at the end of the season, and I know how it feels. (coulda, shoulda, woulda...) Being the late game, I went to bed with BSU in complete control.

I couldn't believe Sports Center this morning! :shocked!

They still had a great run. Conference games on the road are an upset waiting to happen. No sharp objects today, okay Dora? :sad

sniff

Courage, Handy. sniff

Remember, we're Phillies phans sniff so we've been through this before and survived sniff.

Boise State lost sniff whah weep wail
