Be Perfect - A question

hey you made me look like i knew what i was talking about :) no need to apologize.

thank you for your answer, i am beginning to see the fuller picture, i've been studying, too lol it's more of a process than an "all of a sudden" i am there, as we do need to practice and we continue improving, walking in faith and growing into our perfection. As our sin decreases, our perfection increases. we must decrease, so He can increase. we do this by dying to our self daily and picking up the cross daily and it is not i, but He in me. as our sin is revealed to us, we do not do those sins anymore (hopefully lol) and then our sin is no more. sound about right?[/quote]

AMEN well said and simply :) i am not so good at making it simple like this, just at getting it out :lol
I think it is pretty cool that the aposltes spoke to the churches about how they wanted to present them perfect to the Lord :) not that they wanted to present them so that then Jesus could make them perfect later

you do well in presenting, you are the one who has to include all the scripture, i can summarize :lol
i have spent much time and study on this subject yet could not figure it out on my own, thanks for your help. the learning never ends.

yes, the apostles wanted to present the church as perfect and i do not have the scripture, yet i recall something about Jesus wanting a perfect bride. it is all making sense now.

What about sinless? Can we stop sinning all together while we are HERE on this earth, and if so, can we be transformed into glorified bodies while we are here on this earth. Sort of like Kingdom come now......

We can achieve sinlessness with God's help. I will not pretend I understand everything but I dont believe we can transform into glorified bodies right now. God's kingdom is in the future when Jesus and His elect start to reign.

"Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven..." "Will be"

.
I am not arguing your point as my OP said I am trying to discover God's truth in the matter, the verse I keep getting stuck on is:

2 Cor 3:15
15 But unto this day, whensoever Moses is read, a veil lieth upon their heart. But whensoever it shall turn to the Lord, the veil is taken away. Now the Lord is the Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty. But we all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are transformed into the same image from glory to glory, even as from the Lord the Spirit.

What does it mean?

Hi again Darcy. You have such wonderful questions :)

In the Greek it is much clearer how that Paul is continuing the Love Story from the Old Testament, as the Husband (God) who Loves His Israel Bride! (The Church)
As you probably know, the word "Testament" is the same word as "Covenant" and is in fact a "Marriage Covenant". As God Promised in the O.T. to Re-Marry Israel in the New Marriage Covenant, we see Paul describing this here, (one of many places he talks about this).
When a woman is married, she has a veil over her. When she "looks up" into the eyes of Her Husband and she says "I DO", He lifts the veil! Then they kiss! It is Glory! She sees into His face, into His eyes and two then become one :) It is a family affair then, because as we continue reading in scripture, She conceives in Her Love with Him in the Bridechamber by His Incorruptible seed, and becomes filled with the "man-child". We, as the Bride, bring forth the Son of God from within us. Aka, "Christ in you, the hope of "Glory".This is just the condensed version lol, but it is the entire Gospel meaning in the New Testament/Covenant.
I'd love to share more of this with you :)

Blessings for now,
Son of Israel

That was a beautiful picture you painted, my friend.
And isn't it wonderful that we have the Word opened to our understanding by His Holy Spirit?
We can behold the glory of our Lord each day as we feast upon His Word. :pray

i agree with glory, it is a beautiful image. :yes there is probably much more here than i am getting on the first read so will study this more. thanks.

I was thinking of the bride and groom metaphor when I wrote this poem back in 1985

The Awaited Suitor

My heart pines away; I sing the blues.
I ask now and then: Where are you?

Are you real? Are you there for me?
When will I see you? When shall it be?

I face the horizon; I take Christs hand.
In great expectation, I look over the land.

Nothing happens; oh woe is me.
What shall I do? When will it be?

With tears in my eyes, I look up and smile.
Christ cups my face, and after awhile

He softly speaks, and breaks the news:
"I am the one who was chosen for you."

"Can you love me, year after year,
As you would have loved him if he had appeared?"

My face grew pale, and my body shook.
I took his hand, too frightened to look.

Then I agreed to give it a try.
My suitor was here; he had finally arrived.

This is a sincere question from a seeking student of the Word. Listening to famous, well respected Bible scholars, I hear we are sinners and we will never be perfect, yet when I read the Bible God tells me to be perfect as He is and uses the word “saints†to describe us.
What am I missing?

Thanks!
Darcy
I was reading this yesterday. Jesus is saying we should be like the father and truly showcase him to the world. The only way the father and son and spirit are exposed to the world are through servants. Jesus constantly talks about being the light. A light is perfect in exposing the lies and problems the devil causes.
