I think you will find that some of the fundamentalists will now say that Spurgeon was a supporter of Fidel Castro.. :)

The first church I attended after I accepted the Lord was a loving Baptist church, great people.
But, I heard an elder tell a man with a well trimmed beard, that when he was closer to the Lord he would want to shave off his beard. The man asked why, Jesus had a beard. The elder said, no He didn't. ?

I could have some American Indian blood in me.I could also have some African American blood in me.Who knows?

It would not bother me in the least but it is hard to tell what your history holds from many, many years back. There was a story years ago in the paper and a caucasian lady had given birth to a baby that was black. Her husband divorced her but he thought she had not been unfaithful to him.Way,way back their was a black relative that she was not aware of.That can happen.

:grumpy 'Charming' fellow...

Do you have any Indian blood ? Might explain the sparse facial hair.

A little less than half. But I have relatives that are nearly full blooded that are able to grow full beards.
.

According to my mom, my biological dad claimed to have some Cherokee Indian blood. No idea if that's true or not. From the sounds of it he sometimes made stuff up.

Her husband should have talked to any good science teacher.
If the child was his, then he has black allelles, as well.

Yea,there are some of those around....unfortunately.
It's not just that it's offensive (which it most definitely is to do this over skin color); the very mentality is baffling also...

Hmmm....maybe he was the one who had the ancestry.

It would be more likely that they both had dark alleles and the child got more of the alleles for dark skin than either parent had. If you are interested here is the link to a chart that shows the combinations that can happen. It's rather simple and they are finding out more as time goes by but this is basically how I learned it in my college biology class. http://www.bio.miami.edu/dywang/skincoloriqquantative.html

Their example is two parents with the same mix, AaBbCc + AaBbCc
The child could end up with AABBCC, and be darkest shade of skin color

Sounds like you know some genetics.....My dad was an expert on genetics.

I remember that.
