Prophets were obviously men / women called by God to direct His own people.

To advise and guide us in calling on and coming directly to God. They were, are, and will always be here to draw us nigh to God so that the Lord God remains as our Good Pastor and Teacher all the times.

I think I see what you are saying scorpia, so correct me if I'm wrong.

There is no question that the bible is the infallable Word of God. It also happens to be a Means of Grace - much like baptism and communion.

So in essence are you saying (maybe for my own clarification) that it's not the actual Word doing the work, but God working through the word?

God himself is the One working as testifed to by the Word. God himself is whom we need to see the truth.

James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
1:22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.

Agreed! Be doers of the word and not hearers only. Do not teach false doctrines and lie. Do not fall prey to the devils lies and deceptions as he takes advantage of a stronghold that he has built in ones life. We are to examine ourselves moment by moment believing the word of God, not the word of man.

Satan is at WAR with God's commandments(Revelation 12:17), because they are the standard of Righteousness (Psalms 119:172) which God wants every Christian to attain to.

We are to examine ourselves moment by moment believing the word of God, not the word of man.
James 1:23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:
1:24 For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
1:25 But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty(the BIG 10), and continueth [therein], he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed.
1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man's religion [is] vain.

QUESTION: When Jesus Christ said He kept God's commandments (John 15:10)....was His religion is vain ?

I keep the 4th commandment, the 7th day sabbath......
Because Jesus Christ did it Himself, and told Christians to do so.

Jesus mentioned the Law and the Prophets, several times.....WHY ?
