Best Christian Rock Band

Feldew: My sentiment exactly, while not on the same playlist as yourself. I find myself listening to far more secular music simply because I enjoy the music more: Rush, Yes, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Dream Theater, Offspring, Mike Oldfield, Them Crooked Vultures.......

Being involved in music at church I am/have been involved in playing and selecting the songs on a regular basis.

..but to answer the original question... Switchfoot.. (with daylight second)

(Oh does Alice Cooper count?? He is now a Christian afterall...)

I don't have a single favorite for this, just too many good ones.

When I was a teen My favorite band was "One Bad Pig", more of a punk band but they did a number with Johnny Cash called "Man in Black". Petra of course was another favorite.

Third Day's status as a great band is indisputable, Especially Offerings and Offerings 2 CD's.

Glenn Kaiser is by far one of, if not the, best Christian Guitarists.

But my all time favorite Christian Artist will always be Rich Mullins. Probably because in my youth, before he Got big, he spent a lot of time doing worship at the christian camp I went too. Guy was an amazing of a person as he was an artist.

Wow, those are some heavy tunes there.

In high school until I was almost out of college, I was more tuned into rock. Bands like Bush, Shinedown, nickelback(a little less heavy), and rage against the machine.

I realized in reality, these have no meaning to me or God.
 
My favorites... Nine Lashes, Red, Disciple, Ashes Remain, 7eventh Time Down, Demon Hunter. Not necessarily in that order though. @Feklew, you should listen to some Great Commision, Demon Hunter, and In the Midst of Lions if you want some heavier sounds! :D
 
I enjoy "The showdown" I have the CD "Tempations come my way" got the older heavy rock/ metal feel to it. I believe their music has got a lot hevier since 2007.

Music is about more than faith, it's about the entire human experience. U2 brings the perfect blend, they are open about their faith and sing about it often; but they don't beat you over the head with it like a hammer.

I've always liked U2, and I'm aware of the faith aspect in some of their music, although most of the time it's shrouded in humanism, IMO. Bono's cause is very much more about world relief from a secular perspective than a Christian one. What he does is fine, but if he made it clear that his passion was derived from his response to the Lord, it would be all the better.

I find it disconcerting that a believer would feel Christian music beats him over the head with "faith". Could you cite any Scripture that says it's best to focus on the Lord SOME of the time? Should you love the Lord with some of heart, some of your soul, and some of your mind? Your statement would be expected from a "casual Christian" or a non-believer.
 
i only listen to christain music and really? much of that isnt often correct in theology

i have heard that on some christian stations. it has a curseword that i havent heard before. i meant to look into what he was saying, and its a bunch of nonsense.

but its more common then you think on that stuff on christian songs. i like straight theologically sound songs. we ought to sing to jesus.
