We will have to agree to disagree. I can only go by my own experience. I don't care if the word inspire is human or Divine. I just know I get inspired and I write down what the Holy Spirit says in my own words. English. Many of the books I've read that have saved my life we're inspired by God. I guess I'm just confused. Are you saying the Holy Spirit stands over the shoulders of the people who wrote the Bible and dictated it word for word. What about all the different translations? I feel we have to be more flexible when it comes to scripture because it's been translated so many different ways over the years. For instance I was brought up with the expression the fear of God. So naturally I was afraid of God until I was an adult and found out that it means AWE. This was such a relief because I don't want to be afraid of God
No, I don't agree to disagree. I disagree.
OK, so you go by your experience. Another goes by their experience. Another goes by their experience. And another goes by their experience. But....yall don't have the same experience. What now? See, the Bible means nothing. Your 'experience' defines God and Christ to you...not the Bible. You're creating God after your image. You are not following God by what He has revealed in the Scripture.
No other books on earth have been inspired by God to be written as 'His Word', except the Bible. None. Christians may be inspired to write books about the Bible and commentaries, and so on. But the Bible is a Book Authored by God. It is His Word to His people.
Sometimes it was dictation. Some of what Moses and others wrote was definitely dictation. That doesn't make it wrong, just makes it of God. Sometimes it was the Holy Spirit so moving upon the mans spirit, that what he wrote was the product of the Holy Spirit. Sometimes the prophets didn't even understand the things they wrote. (1 Peter 1:10-11)
I think Godly fear is a good thing. I think 'awe' really takes away from it. There is no place to be 'flexible' with the Word of God. But of course, if it isn't the Word of God....what does it matter? So, is the Bible the Word of God or not?
