Bill Cosby responds to Victoria Osteen

Everything we do as Christians should be to reflect the glory of God, not for our own edification. Her message is completely wrong, and promotes selfish pride. Just another false teaching from the Osteen camp.

She is right........ in a certain context i must add.

You do good in yourself as a individual. You do not do it to please God because you do good things because YOU want to out the goodness of YOUR heart, NOT because God forces you.

God does not force anyone to do anything, and he sure dont need any mans glory.

I guess some already have there reward in full.

There's a big difference between doing something to please God and doing something because God forces you to do it. One is something you do of your own free will because you love God and want to please Him, while the other is something you don't want to do but you do it anyway because you want to avoid the consequences of not doing it.

no matter what you do, IF you are selfish, you're selfish.
no matter what you do, IF you are not selfish, you're not selfish.
Yhwh declares throughout His Word what is selfish and what is not selfish, and woe to the selfish. woe to the comfortable. and so on.

in acts, the ones immersed in the Name of Yeshua, those who repented(turned away from their sin, turned to Yhwh) and became part of Yeshua's ekklesia (set apart ones, holy ones, born again ones, the 'church' at that time(not today) )
were
constantly full of joy ... remember ? read acts and see what they did.

Well im sorry God that tomorow im going for a surf, and the next day im going fishing. Is that not good?. Im selfish?

Im so sorry if you want me to live my life in consistent negative, misery and fear. Can i not do anything for myself and have a good time?

Ohh, im sorry God. That right, you dont want me to be happy and have a good time.

You only told half the story. How about looking at all of it?

Well im sorry God that I can't go to church tomorow because I'm going for a surf, and I can't make it to the Monday morning prayer meeting the next day, since I'm going fishing.
I'm so sorry if you want me to live my life in consistent negative, misery and fear, doing things like having fellowship with other believers, helping the poor, praying and reading the Bible. Can i not do anything for myself and have a good time?
Sounds a bit different when you tell the whole story, doesn't it? God never said we aren't allowed to be happy, but we should think of Him first, other people second and ourselves last. What is said in the video is that we should think first and foremost of ourselves, which is the very definition of selfishness.

btw, Yhwh Word says someplace woe to you rich.... be miserable and mourn and weep.... or something like this...
and
'woe' means something very very bad and permanent, according to some translators/concordances, i think.

Follower, why must you present such a sad and miserable life in Christ.

For if by one man's offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign inlife by one, Jesus Christ.)

30 For all these things do the nations of the world seek after: and your Father knoweth that ye have need of these things.

Not being home i do not have access to my usual research supplies... :shrug :sorry2

do you think that people were happy in the days of Noah ?
our joy, immersed in Christ Jesus, is beyond what the world can possibly know. and peace, and righteousness.
but in the world, even for believers, is much tribulation , but be of good cheer Yeshua said "I have overcome the world" (not given in to it, not accepted it, not cowed down to it - He overcame it. and believers are to overcome sin and the flesh and the world also, not give in to it. otherwise the 'feelings' good or bad, happy or sad, are of no benefit and just carnal.

"James 4:9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to ...
Be miserable and mourn and weep; ... Be miserable and mourn and weep. Your laughter must change to mourning and .."
(quoted from k9 safe search, first link)

see, it is written for a reason, for Yhwh's purpose, and cannot be neglected without great peril.

elsewhere, in acts wonderfully, the people who came to Yeshua and were immersed in His Name,
they did be miserable and mourn and weep for their sins , and they repented and turned to Yhwh and gave up everything instead of continuing ongoing in their sin. they stopped sinning, willingly and joyfully. (with 'stumbling' at times of course, for which Yhwh's Word provides graciously and freely and generously a Way to recover, for most ; not for all it seems).

without repentance, there is no forgiveness of sin (just like without blood there is no remission of sin).
blood of the Lamb, paid at great cost; not lightly, and not to be taken lightly.

so if someone continues blatantly in sin, in carnality, in worldliness according to Yhwh's Word and the Word of Yeshua all throught the N.T., what's to be done ?? applaud and enjoy the 'entertainment' !?

An honest and rational man. Good view on the "joyous" life God repeatedly says He wants us to have.

Where did he say he was skipping church or a prayer meeting to do these things? How do you know this is what he is doing? Not everyone that does things for enjoyment from time to time necessarily skips out on God to do that.

It's implied. I don't apologize to my friends for something I'm doing, unless in interferes with something they want to do. Why would I apologize to God for going fishing or surfing, unless it interferes with something else that He wants me to be doing?

Kind of weak.......... He spoke of two days in a row. Do you have church two days in a row?

Many churches do. One example is what I said in my previous post - church service on Sunday and a Monday morning prayer meeting (sometimes called a "prayer breakfast"). The Catholic church has mass twice a day every day of the week. But I must say it's rather interesting to watch all the Christians here justify neglecting the things of God because people are too busy having fun.

LOL. I REALLY think his post was sarcasm. I'm sure he'll clarify for us when he gets back.
