Bill Cosby responds to Victoria Osteen

If you are referring to me as, "the solo defender of that church", you missed it. I really don't care too much for either one of them.

What I am saying is that we, as followers of Christ, have no business hunting for cheap, tawdry ways to back-stab people. If we feel their message is wrong, then we should be honest enough to post their messages IN FULL, and show where we feel they are wrong.

I'm not defending the Osteens. I'm expressing true shame and embarrassment at the low-stooping ways some of my brothers and sisters employ to try and disparage them.

If they are all that wrong...... stand up tall, and let their own words (ALL of them) speak for themselves. The way many people try to smear those they feel are wrong is just NOT how Jesus told us to act.
there is enough in that to get what she said without the full message. do I need a sermon in its entiretly if at the end i hear man say
remember that jesus is a way, but not THE way.
?

i prefer to know the entire context but i can see Danus's point.

Here is what he said. Do you think you can repeat the very first words Osteen said here? (Before Larry cut him off for the first of many times.)

And do you think it IS our place to tell people they are going to Hell... or to do as Osteen clearly says here... tell them, instead, what the Bible says, and let them decide their own path?

Ya see, it is half-truths like this that I think it so wrong to spread.

video doesn't work. i know that video. but i also went to his website after this and he did have up there a sof that stated jesus wasn't the only way but since then he has made different statement. so i no longer state that.

he is live right now. so i will listen and see if i see anything.

worship is a like a rock concert. nothing heretical in their songs.

But you just posted it in #45. That was you who wrote that in your post, right?

I don't understand saying "He did" and "He didn't" in the same post.

I see Osteen preaching a lot differently than I do, but I see an honest man of God sitting there trying to love a snake like Larry King, smirking about being clever enough with words to try and trip Osteen up........... Yet Osteen keeps calmly trying to speak the words of Jesus' love so that those listening know, despite a world of crafty and devious Larry King types, Jesus' love is still there for all of us.

i have watched that video years ago. the title is the same on i read and also i have watched the entire interview and it has transcripts.

like i said im listening to him live.

i have no sound! if anyone can listen to him at present please do so and post anything that is off or good. i heard nothing. music wasn't my approach but that is ok.

I rarely watch him. Maybe three or four times a year. Just doesn't do anything for me.

But I have heard accusations consistently and relentlessly declaring that he speaks no Scripture. Well, that's just a flat out prevarication. I think a lot of people might be upset because he doesn't state chapter and verse, and begin with that. But, please never make the mistake of thinking he does not preach pure Biblical intent..... just because you didn't hear some reference numbers mentioned.

Guess who else never declared chapter and verse numbers in His preaching 2,000 years ago?

i understand that. i post jewish thought. they do that. they use indirectly means to get things across. ie in the targum the word mera is used for the name of God, its not his name but what he did. to speak things into being. john used that in john 1:1.

i will listen to him as long as it works. nothing out of the ordinary.

gah, he is hitting some of the prosperity stuff. not all of its off. but honeslty i would have to listen to him for some time as he could be just teaching the stuff i hear at my church and i have a bias and see what i want.

finally, i had to move that video forward to 53 minutes vo is speaking on god. first sentence has he wants you to be wealthy, blessed etc. she is making it out to be if you are successful it will make others want it. ok did jesus die so that i can have things? sometimes as it is with stovebolts. it plain is crappy to serve god but god used that.gah, shallow Christianity.

The 24th of August, right? I moved it up to hear her part, like you said. I swear, we must be listening to different tapes. I didn't hear her, even once, mention being wealthy (money and riches and possessions)

i did, in America , are you to believe that a poor man as i was as i had no water as a kid at times wouldn see others that are blessed and focus on that? i came to Christ as being poor, i didn't come to Christ for things but because i had struggles with life, i felt isolated, yes i did pray to be fixed and descent job, but i live in a county where its a billionaire barrier island and the poor on the mainland. the rich would take that as i do. i know the tithing doctrine from prosperity gospel and also normal balance which my pastor teaches. which is give it for its the lord and offering but don't always think that money is what you will get. you wont.

What in the world are you talking about?

What in the world are you talking about?
she said if you look at successful Christians you want that.
the context is giving.

what is a successful Christian? a Christian in congo, who has needs met and has faith? a christian in America who has millions?

Joel Osteen is not helping people of other religions or people who are considering Christianity when he says that Mormons are brothers in Christ. That is the most obvious problem I see with his teaching.

i have been overseas, the best church i had was over there.death at the door. it makes it real. i wasn't concerned with the shallowness i have now. sadly, it was god let me live to see another day. oh man , i might die. i better be holy. sad but true, but when i realized that he is that real, it became closer to if i die praising god then its all good. im his. to praying for needs of others and such like.

I fear you have blinded yourself. (Or allowed yourself to be blinded) She talked about nothing that you are going on about.
