Well I took today off.
I just bought a truck back in January...it was new to me. It was a used truck. I can't afford new....well I can but simply refuse to put that size of portion of our income into a depreciating asset.
I've usually had great luck with used vehicles. My last truck wouldn't pass emissions testing but it also wasn't even worth 1000 dollars either. So I had to get another one.
I got this one. Paid 11k for an 08 four door Chevy Sierra.
Last night on the way home the truck started giving me trouble. So I started it up this morning and it still ran rough. So I took today off to take it into the shop and get it fixed. figured it was probably just a spark plug or a coilpack.
This time it was the valves...and the cam and the oil pump. and since it was so many parts I chose a new engine option...100K miles warranty.
but its going to cost 6800.
Uggghhhhh.
but considering I've gotten five used vehicles in the past 10 years and lost one due to a drunk driver, gave one to my son, and the last one to emissions and being a pain...I've been really lucky. (This includes my wife's cars too)
But...I still haven't put out the money a single New Car or Truck would cost. Even with all the repairs. I still haven't put out the money that these vehicles would require in insurance either.
