Boxing

i have been robbed twice,
once my apartment was broken into while i was on vacation
and the other was when i left a coke case in my truck and some work shoes.

the later was my fault to an extent. but it still happened.

the former was my next door neighbor who had an abusive bf and was a drug addict. she would climb up in the roof of the duplex and then come in and sit in the apartment.

.It won't ever happen all right ... ...

The liklihood may be small but to be realistic, there is a saying that goes "never say never". Sometimes in this life we just don`t know what the next minute will bring, but we can rest assured that God is with His children every step of the way so if such a thing happened, we do have our Almighty God to fall upon as the ultimate insurance and protection better than any training can provide.

I do martial arts myself. My primary focus is Jiu Jitsu, but also do some Muay Thai, boxing. I know some Taekwondo, Karate, and a little bit of Kravmaga. (I'll be doing more Kravmaga next year).

I say sometimes it's for self-defense, but the fact is I just love doing it all, though I do know in a situation I could handle myself. Me and my buddies at the gym we love grappling. It's not just training (and not time wasted by any means), it's a great stress relief and we have a kinda brotherhood about it. It gives me a confidence I never had when I was younger.

And when I hear "choking them out" that doesn't sound crazy at all to me. I'd do the same if I were in the situation.

unlike the tv and media, when one is choked and realised the breathing and heartrate will restart. though they may be uncounsious but they can be awaken easily.

Also choking somebody out is a way more merciful way to take somebody out of a fight than a side kick, and more effective than an armbar or elbow lock in cases where they may be intoxicated and pain isn't gonna work.

if you can get a choke in, keep in mind that to get some chokes they have to been on the ground and many of these mma gyms dont know gi techs or teach them as the students only want mma(this is where a good judo club is for).

In a fight ground is likely where I'd want to be. I feel confident in my striking ability, but way more confident in my Jiu Jitsu. Against a larger opponent considering I'm not a big guy I have the advantage on the ground.

do keep in mind that well as you know or should that from mma side the guard isnt all that, a position where you will take a few to get a choke here or there. or is a my coach calls at times the loser position.

ironic considering i work a lot from the guard in bjj, and also my first coach from brazil was very hard to pass his guard and his legs were like hands.

Not the best way to view the world. I know from experience cause I'm kinda the king at getting myself in tough and bad situations. I've got a Murphy's Law thing going on so I like to be prepared for anything. Oh have I got some stories.

(I've got a survival kit built and wilderness survival knowledge that would keep me alive several months at least. I carry the kit around in my car now that we have so much snow. Just in case.)
