Christian apologists make the assumption that the Bible is perfect.
That is a huge assumption to make.

good...thought provoking...but atheists wont be satisfied....i believe the Ressurection occurred anyway. but that is more intuition than reason.humble soul
Have a read/ listen to this and let me know what u thought of it

obviously touched a nerve there
Geisler struck me as well versed in Scripture but how much has he read outside the Bible? The Church Fathers for example?
If we had such indisputable evidence of Jesus being the Son of God, there would be no need for faith.
Others might be impressed Oz. I'm not.
To be honest, what has really caused me to doubt the Bible is the complete and utter dismissal of homosexuality.
In OT and NT.
Gays feel ostracised by Christianity.
If I were gay I would probably not be Christian.
9 Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men 10 nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God (1 Cor 6:9-11 NIV).
I think NT is more reliable than OT
Leviticus Joshua and Judges turned me off OT. Legalism violence and an angry God. But i do like Exodus and the Prophets. Why? Jesus taught by quoting the OT

Leviticus Joshua and Judges turned me off OT. Legalism violence and an angry God. But i do like Exodus and the Prophets.
i dont believe Exodus is a historical fact. i like the imagery and metaphors. We either accept the whole of scripture or none of scripture as we can not pick out the parts we only like. God's laws keep us in line in His perfect will for us. When we transgress the laws of God it is we who are found guilty of disobedience to God's commands. God's is justified in coming against His enemies as they bring God's judgement upon themselves as their hearts have turned wicked in all their imaginations, Jeremiah 7:23, 24. God is not a God of violence and anger, but a just God in all His judgements.
You said you like Exodus. What about the 10 plagues in Exodus 10:1-20 and the killing of the first born of the Egyptians in Exodus chapter 11, 12. Was this God being violent and angry, or was it God's judgement brought on by that of Pharaohs wicked heart against the Israelites?

Spiritual truths are more important to me than historical facts. As long as you believe in what Jesus did, and have faith in Him, then everything else we don't understand, or don't agree with still has time to get settled and streightened out.
As I've heard some say, God's not done with us yet. One day you might have to face the book of Exodus in a different way, because you've gained more respect and trust for what God's done and able to do. Nothing is impossible for Him. With that in mind I've changed a lot of my previous views about the bible and it's reliablity because I've seen in a small way what God can do. There's no reason from that stand point to not consider Exodus to be historical as well as spiritually a good teacher for us.
Spiritual truths are more important to me than historical facts.
4 One day Jesus told a story in the form of a parable to a large crowd that had gathered from many towns to hear him: 5 “A farmer went out to plant his seed. As he scattered it across his field, some seed fell on a footpath, where it was stepped on, and the birds ate it. 6 Other seed fell among rocks. It began to grow, but the plant soon wilted and died for lack of moisture.7 Other seed fell among thorns that grew up with it and choked out the tender plants. 8 Still other seed fell on fertile soil. This seed grew and produced a crop that was a hundred times as much as had been planted!” When he had said this, he called out, “Anyone with ears to hear should listen and understand.”
9 His disciples asked him what this parable meant. 10 He replied, “You are permitted to understand the secrets of the Kingdom of God. But I use parables to teach the others so that the Scriptures might be fulfilled:
‘When they look, they won’t really see.
When they hear, they won’t understand.’
11 “This is the meaning of the parable: The seed is God’s word. 12 The seeds that fell on the footpath represent those who hear the message, only to have the devil come and take it away from their hearts and prevent them from believing and being saved. 13 The seeds on the rocky soil represent those who hear the message and receive it with joy. But since they don’t have deep roots, they believe for a while, then they fall away when they face temptation.14 The seeds that fell among the thorns represent those who hear the message, but all too quickly the message is crowded out by the cares and riches and pleasures of this life. And so they never grow into maturity. 15 And the seeds that fell on the good soil represent honest, good-hearted people who hear God’s word, cling to it, and patiently produce a huge harvest.
