Is the doctrine of "by faith alone you're save" Biblical?

Did God, the Prophets or Jesus taught such doctrine?

Rather than go into all the verses, I'll ask how do you think people are saved?
What standard of deeds, behaviour, faith etc must be achieved in order to deserve salvation?

>>>Good question.
I believe, faith and deeds go hand by hand without separation.
If I believe, then my deeds should be reflections of my deeds, and the opposite...
Example: If I believe in Almighty GOD when HE said, don't lie, and I lie, then my believe worth nothing till I repent from lies.
If I do good deeds, but believe not in GOD, then my good deeds worth nothing, and accepted not by GOD.

I hope I answer your question.

back again to mine: Did GOD, The Prophets or Jesus taught the doctrine of "by faith alone"?

If someone is holding a gun to your head saying they will kill you unless another person is willing to come forth and be killed in your place , and behold someone who loves you dearly comes forth and takes your place to be killed in your stead, What good deed could be performed to cause that person who loves you to GIVE their life in your place ?

What good deed could ever be performed as a gun is being held to your head to cause another to take your place?

You asked, and this is exactly how Jesus describes the transaction of salvation that takes place between a person and God .

Mat 20:28
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

If someone is holding a gun to your head saying they will kill you unless another person is willing to come forth and be killed in your place

>>>Is this Biblical?
I think nowhere GOD demand someone to die for anyone, but the opposite, HE said (Ez. 18)
Mat 20:28
Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
>>> Ransom ?
Dictionary:) a sum of money or other payment demanded or paid for the release of prisoner)
Who demand the ransom?
Who was the prisoner?
Who is the kidnapper?

Remember if someone kidnapped your loved one, do you pay him a ransom if you are able to free the prisoner without ransom?

again, lets stay on the topic: Did GOD, The Prophets or Jesus taught the doctrine of "by faith alone"?

That is exactly what Jesus said He came to do .
Die in my place and yours as ransom
The ransom was His Life & Blood.
Jesus's Words not mine

Mat 20:28

>>>The same Jesus also said:
Revelation 22:12

“Behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to render to every man according to what he has done.

Not according to what Jesus did but according to what you did.

" reward" does not mean salvation.
Salvation is a gift, not a reward .

Eph 2:8
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God"

" reward" does not mean salvation.
Salvation is a gift, not a reward .

Eph 2:8
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God"
>>>So, what's reward? may be candy bar ?

My friend, again, lets stay on the topic: Did GOD, The Prophets or Jesus taught the doctrine of "by faith alone"?

Every saved person will receive rewards in accordance to their honoring the obligations contingent with their salvation .
Two separate things .
I just gave you a testimony of one who walked with Jesus , who TAUGHT that salvation is a gift .
Check yourself on the statement again,

Eph 2:8

>>>Matthew 16:27 KJVFor the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Please tell me what Jesus reward made of?

>>>I know you did.
But my testimony straight from the mouth of GOD and Jesus.
Psalm 62:12 and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work. 12 unfailing love, O Lord, is yours. Surely you repay all people according to what they have done.

Please tell me what GOD reward made of?

Eph 2:8
"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God"

Just know this, that the only "works" that the thief nailed to a cross next to Jesus was able to do before he went to heaven was to steal & rob & be a criminal.
Yet he still received the Gift of Life Eternal .
Do you know what he did to merit receiving the Gift of Life Eternal ?

Luk 23:43
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

Is the doctrine of "by faith alone you're save" Biblical?
First one must define FAITH ALONE.
Faith Alone means we are saved by our Faith as opposed to Faith + Works as the Roman Catholics teach.
Faith Alone does not mean that there are not other aspects to our salvation like Christ's death or God's purpose.
Furthermore, although we are save by Faith Alone said salvific faith is always accompanied by works; said works are NOT the cause of our salvation; rather, the effect of our salvation.

Did God, the Prophets or Jesus taught such doctrine?
Romans 4:4–5
Galatians 2:16
Romans 3:28
Romans 4:5
Ephesians 2:8
Philippians 3:9
Galatians 5:2-6 warns those who think they are save by their works ... 4 You have been severed from Christ, if you seek to be justified [that is, declared free of the guilt of sin and its penalty, and placed in right standing with God] through the Law; you have fallen from grace [for you have lost your grasp on God’s unmerited favor and blessing].

Hey All,
Tempo , do you believe it takes more than faith to believe in Jesus?
If so, what?
Your posts come across to me as though you are are ready to pounce on the first person who disagrees with you.
You can pounce on me.

I believe that the faith we need to receive the gift of grace, is from God and is all we need for salvation to occur. I believe this faith comes only from God, so I cannot brag about saving myself. I believe that God imparted this faith alone as a means by which I am able to understand the will of the Holy Spirit, which is to believe in Jesus for the remission of my sins.

So pounce away.

Keep walking everybody.
May God bless,
Taz

I don't know what you mean "by faith alone you're saved." My faith doesn't save me; it simply brings me to the Savior who saves me.

Imagine my family doctor tells me that I've got a brain tumor. I believe him. He directs me to see a cancer specialist, which I do. I believe the specialist when he tells me I've got to have brain surgery to remove my tumor and be saved from death. He directs me to a neuro-surgeon who arranges with me to operate on my brain. I'm laying on the operating table, waiting for the surgeon to operate. Have I been saved yet from my tumor? Has all that I've believed about my cancerous tumor, has all my faith in my family doctor, the cancer specialist and the neuro-surgeon saved me? No. If I lay on the operating table, believing with all my heart that the surgeon will save me, and I wait there for hours, or days, or weeks, am I saved? No. Only if the surgeon does his saving work on my brain will I be saved. My belief, my faith in, his saving ability doesn't do anything to save me; it only brings me to the one who can save me. And when he goes to work on my brain, all I can do is receive his saving work. I just lay there on the operating table, doing nothing, unable to contribute in any way to the saving work of the brain surgeon.

In the same way, only the Great Physician can save me from my incorrigibly rebellious and sinful "old man" and the penalty of my sin. Only the Great Physician can remove the "tumor" of my sin. All my faith in his saving power does is bring me to him for saving. I can contribute nothing to my salvation; I cannot be a co-Savior with Christ. He alone saves. I simply receive him, my Salvation.

John 14:6
6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Acts 4:12
12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

1 Timothy 2:5-6
5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,
6 who gave himself as a ransom for all...

1 John 5:11-12
11 And this is the testimony, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.

>>>Here where I disagree: I am not saved by faith alone neither by work alone. Together like chain you can't separate them.

>>>I asked if GOD, the prophets or Jesus taught such thing.
What I mean, if the doctrine very important, then why was not revealed by GOD, the prophets or Jesus ?

Neither God, nor the prophets, nor the Apostles, nor Paul or Jesus teach that faith alone will save us.

You put it very well,,,as I also like to do:

Faith without works is a dead faith.
Works without faith are dead works.

A person requires both.

This is what the NT teaches.
