Calvinism and the Nicene Creed

The Eastern early historian Theodoret states it was the bishop of Rome, as do the Fathers of a subsequent Council (Third Council of Constantinople). I have quotations from both in a previous thread.
I saw the post.
I really can't remember what I know from my own knowledge.
And I don't think this is that important....

Well, there was the church started by the apostles.
I agree, but, having studied some history (so much more to know!) I have to say that the church started by the Apostles IS the Catholic church.

Back then it mean universal....which might be what the creed professes...the Creed of 381 states ,,,,one holy, catholic, and apostolic church.

Holy
Catholic
Apostolic

Apostolic....started by the Apostles and passed on.
At this point it was not yet known as the Roman Catholic Church since there were at least 5 "popes" at this time...these were Bishops that were called "papa" as an endearing term for their authority.

My point is that I don't believe that the Roman Catholic Church as we know it existed in 325. I believe it did evolve the Church's merging with the state.

You're welcome! I'm a little confused. Are you saying that this statement is the Roman Catholic Church?

Yes, it is the Catholic Church, which many Protestants refer to as the Roman Catholic Church.

The Latin (Roman) Church is but one of many Churches which comprise the Catholic Church. (Not all Catholics are Latin.)
