Can one be homosexual and saved?

The bible does indeed teach that engaging in sex with persons of the same sex is sin, just as it is sinful for an unmarried person to engage in sex with someone. So, the question really becomes,

Can a person willfully and repeatedly continue on in a sinful activity and be saved?

I think this question can be answered no matter which side of the OSAS debate one is on.

If one believes that a truly saved person can never lose salvation, and yet is continuing on in something that is willful sin, then I would say that the person truly needs to examine their faith, their belief and their confession of sin and repentance.

If one believes that a truly saved person can lose salvation, and yet is continuing on in something that is willful sin, then I would say that the person truly needs to examine their faith, their belief and their confession of sin and repentance.

In either case, no matter if one believes in OSAS or in losing one's salvation, and whether or not the sin happens to be homosexual sex or something else, if one is willfully and repeatedly engaging in sin, one has a problem that needs to be addressed.

if you are saved and fall into that your spirit man will die eventually as you must ignore what the word of god says, i did that until a friend confronted me in love,

so, no , as one must become reprobate if repentence isnt soon enough can that be forgiven yes.

there hope even until death

That was a well written post Handy. The only thing that I would like to add to it is (as in the case of many homosexuals) if you are PROUD of your sin you definitely have a problem that needs to be addressed. Luke 13:5--Unless you REPENT, you too will all perish.

Can you still live a homosexual lifestyle and still be saved?? That's between you and God.

This is a question I find hard to answer and I think has to be an issue between the individual and God. As a Christian I believe we cannot condone homosexuality as it clearly states it is an sin. The two don't mix, if a homosexual becomes a Christian and wants to continue his sin then one would have to consider whether he / she truly has converted to Christianity and should be guided to an understanding of his / her sin. It is not good for the Christian faith if practicing homosexuals are proclaiming the faith and twisting it to suit there sin.

The apostles had sin in their lives....and nothing changed their being of God. No doubt, God desires all of His children to turn away from sin and follow him in faith, leaving their sinful ways behind. Do not think though that any of us who fall or have a present sin in our lives are any less saved. A person can be wishing to repent of a sin and struggling with it, yes?

yes, that's possible but i don't see that with the homosexual lifestyle, sooner or later you will grow very far from god, it's because of the reprobate spirit and you have to reject the word of god on that subject,vs just ignoring what the word says. That's different from the reprobate spirit as it's according romans 1, imho it's forgivable and it really takes an act of god to change, i wish i could talk to a former gay friend of mine who aslo struggled with that, but never did the deeds, he just fought against the desires.

This subject isn't between you and God, as if some may be saved and others condemned for doing the same thing (Rom.1:29-2:3)...God shows no favoritism, partiality, or respect to person in His judgments (Rom.2:11). To believe that a Christian is still saved even though they sin, is to believe that a homosexual is saved from eternal damnation just b/c he believes in Christ. That is just as absurd as a saved Christian who is having premarital straight sex. The sexually immoral will not inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor.6:9-10; Gal.5:19-21; Eph.5:3-7). All sin brings the death penalty of the spirit (Gen.2:17; Ex.32:32-33; Eze.18:4, 20-26; Rom.6:16-23; Jas.1:15). Before Christ, After Christ...no difference...anyone who dies w/ unconfessed sin is condemned (Rev.22:11). The belief alone in Christ doesn't save you when you commit sin (Eze.3:17-21; 33:12-13; 8:12-13; Jas.2:14-26; Rev.2:5, 16). If the church would teach correctly about sin, then the debate of 'Once Saved Always Saved' would be absurd.

If homosexual is just fighting against the desire, it is not sin. Acting out make it sin. We all have to struggle with some kind of weaknesses because of our sinful nature, homosexual or not. Many heterosexual are fighting against masterbation.

I agree with this. I find it hard to talk to people about this subject. Of course the stereotypical gay lifestyle is against the teaching of Christianity. Random sex with strangers of either orientation is against the teachings of sexual morality and lust.

Things that aren't though. A person can still love another person of the same sex, and be with them. Sex isn't an entire point of a relationship. You can be celibate, its just finding a partner that is willing to be celibate as well.

I don't see how that is against God's will. Since all the passages in the Bible only condemn the sex acts. Even that is really up for grabs, especially since there are scholars that have shown Corinthians was a mistranslation of Sexual man servants and their Masters, Romans was about idolaters, and Leviticus is an adultery law.

the person i mentioned was delivered from the spirit of homosexuality ,yes i said spirit, because he did tell me that he would eventually give in that desire if God didn't take it from , and he was delivered not much later then our conversation, upon my repentance I didn't go through that all desire was taken instantaineously and by the power of jesus, it's jesus only that can and defeat this spirit. From time to time satan will try to attack there and i will rebuke him in the power of lord.

What then of the destructive habits of an alcoholic? A child or spouse abuser? Should it be any different for any of them?

Think sometimes there is too much stereotyping.

A sinner is a sinner. Regardless of the sin. Have yet to see a person that walks this earth that is not a sinner.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It is hard to overcome our weakness, I have tons of them and cannot say that I am doing well overcoming them. We have to keep trying until we die.

Well said. Just maintain as friend, and not as sex partner is not sin at all. In fact, it is noble idea, IMO.

So what is the difference in a (supposedly saved) homosexual unable to overcome his/her immoral sexual desires and a christian who is a smoker and unable to overcome their nicotine addiction? They are both sinning, agreed? Does God see a smoker as less of a sinner than a homosexual? I feel like we, as christians, condemn certain people because we feel their sin is unpardonable or because of their sin they are rejecting God when they might just be having difficulties overcoming their sin, yet have still given their life to Christ.

There is a degree in sins according to scripture. We will be judged according to what we have done. Jesus wants us to over come all our sins. Some will be elect because of what they have done for the Lord, and reign the earth for 1000 years with Jesus.

This is a difficult concept to truly convey on a forum. But here goes :)

All of us must overcome sin, and we overcome it IN CHRIST. How? Well, first through faith. That means, we first have to BELIEVE that Jesus has indeed freed us from whatever sin it is. If we truly believe that , that is so, then God will react on that faith and He will give us grace to walk in the manifestation of our faith. No faith, no manifestation . It will always be for us: "Be it to you according to your faith" . That means, we only get what we believe.

We need grace for this to happen in our lives. We need faith first and then grace will follow if we are humble. God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble. God will allow us , through His grace , to overcome any and every sin, IF we have the faith, that Jesus indeed came "to set the captives free".

It does not matter if you are homosexual or smoking, you still need faith and grace to overcome. With God alone, nothing is impossible. What is impossible to us, is possible with Him. He has done His work at the cross. Now we need to add our faith to what He has done, so that we can walk in the benefit.

there's no condemnation to them in christ, however, after praying i will expound on what i learn from jesus,

one can't be a celibate lbgt and be in christ, if one has no desire for a woman or man, the natural intent of the lord is heterosexuality, but some are made into eunichs by man or God. if you a celibate lbgt then i find it strange that dont ask the Lord to take the desires from you(change you) to a heterosexual or be a enich unto the Lord, if lbgt is God's plan then why wouldn't a marriage relationship be ordained by God, the God we serve wouldn't turture us like that( be lbgt all you want just no sex or any thing leading to the act or temptaition or think it but don't do it.

more to follow after church and prayer
