That's a decent question. I don't have the political knowledge to present a definitive answer, only suggestions.
If left to the consumer they will more often choose to buy the Chinese product over the home made one. Legislation needs to be introduced to encourage local manufacturing.
The first idea that comes to mind is simply banning cheap imported products.
Not all at once but gradually over time so that industry returns to where it originated, in the west. It would take time but supply, demand and wages would eventually level out to be fairer for the consumer.
One thing that riles me is the profit margin some companies get away with making.
If it costs a company $1 to manufacture a product how are they allowed to get away with selling it for $200, at a 20,000% profit margin, it's criminal, daylight robbery.
So why not put a cap on the allowable profit gain on products. Something that makes it fair for the consumer and doesn't discourage business.
We must not forget that China is a communist regime run by a dictatorship.
America has never been friendly with such regimes and never traded with communist in the past. Why start now.
