SocialistBut more expensive. At least where I live almost every gas station charges 10 cents per gallon more if you use your card as a credit card instead of a debit card. If you drive much at all that adds up to a lot of money every year!

It's odd, because only a few of the stations I frequent give a cash discount. For the ones that do, you have to prepay inside with your debit card. But more expensive. Yeah, here (Northwest Washington State) it seems most of the stations now have the 10 cent discount for using your debit card and you can do it right at the pump. That's all come about in the last couple of years. Before that you had to go inside, and it had to be strictly cash, no debit cards. It's odd, because only a few of the stations I frequent give a cash discount. I drive a tad over 100 miles a day, so yes it does add up for me. However, I can go to another station and run the card as credit for about a nickel more and I can actually top my tank off instead of guessing how much I need.
For fill ups, I alternate between 2 or 3 tanks a week. So being able to top off at every fillup is more important to me.
See what happens when one moves to Michigan lol!!!Yeah, here (Northwest Washington State) it seems most of the stations now have the 10 cent discount for using your debit card and you can do it right at the pump. HUH?The chip cards are supposed to be more secure as they have a changing pin number in the chip.
But at the moment the machines are too new and no one wants to invest in the good ones. (Like Europe has) and make things more secure.
Also,. You could go back to cash....just saying.
It doesn't charge a fee and is accepted world wide. Dollars are taken everywhere despite being in another country.
Thanks Jason.I pay in gold
LolThanks Jason.
I needed that.
Or maybe it's Uncle Sam keeping tabs on you. Sam Walton, that is. Try it at his private Club and see what happens. Ha haMike
Well.... So, I just made a purchase at Wallmart for $7 and guess what? I had to enter my pin. Now, I know I've made numerous transactions at Wallmart and I didn't have to enter my pin.
Me thinks the gal might have pushed a different button
Just remember Mike,Or maybe it's Uncle Sam keeping tabs on you. Sam Walton, that is. Try it at his private Club and see what happens. Ha ha
The worst was at a Burger King the other day. It was laughably retro. Like it felt like I'd gone 20 years back in time. She literally had to hand me a card reader on the cord, thru the window. I pulled it into my car, so I could stick my card in the chip reader and do the waiting dance. All the while, the cord is stretched out my car window, in thru the drive thru window, and who knows where. That felt like something I would have done in the 80's.
Should of asked when the movie started lol!Or maybe it's Uncle Sam keeping tabs on you. Sam Walton, that is. Try it at his private Club and see what happens. Ha ha

Until your phone gets hacked...then....let's just say that it's unpleasant.Pay apps do wonders
Nothing is secure.a chip isn't unhackable.the clerk could add money in tips.Until your phone gets hacked...then....let's just say that it's unpleasant.
Although the low tech hack at the gas station and the grocery store is going to be gone with the new card.Nothing is secure.a chip isn't unhackable.the clerk could add money in tips.
Yet it can be done.we have a system where I use a gold chip to acess classified info, yet lasange, and Snowden got info.Hillary as well.Although the low tech hack at the gas station and the grocery store is going to be gone with the new card.
Just because someone has your card number doesn't mean that they can use it for purchases any longer. This will put a damper on internet sales and Amazon is really looking to stall all of this.
But the insurance company that pays for all the hacked numbers is going broke with all the stolen number purchases.
European countries have already had enough with their thefts.
We've had our numbers stolen from gas stations and grocery stores...by kids doing nothing but looking over the bookkeeper 's shoulder.
Can't send 16 year olds to jail for wire fraud...for long term at least.
But currently they are the ones printing money on computers and using stolen card numbers to buy the latest technology. Of course they are getting caught. But when there is a flood of them?
Egregious amounts get priority and sums less than $2,000 get lower priority.
Less than $500 gets the least priority.
The chip is least hackable. A new pin is issued at each purchase randomized by an algorithm that puts lottery numbers to shame and issued to your card with each purchase and stored only at the bank and your card.
So it's almost impossible to hack....at least no one has figured out how yet.
But the chip and pin cards have really reduced the incident of credit card fraud... something like 80%.Yet it can be done.we have a system where I use a gold chip to acess classified info, yet lasange, and Snowden got info.Hillary as well.
Criminals will work around any system. I'm sure even our frequency hopping radio communication has been beaten.hard to jam but Russia has built a system. The human factor is the weak point. Biometrics on the smart phone isnt exactly unsecured.I have heard of that being used.
I'm not against it,but my cac card is a means of verification it has a pin, allows me entrance into facilities, on Web sites,I can even digitally sign paper with it.yet china has stolen data on soldiers.imagine your driver license being a common acess card.use it vote, open bank accounts, start credit, log in to networks.StoveBolts will recognize this tech.it's old to the military. 12 or more years old.But the chip and pin cards have really reduced the incident of credit card fraud... something like 80%.
