  • Focus on the Family

    Strengthening families through biblical principles.

Focus on the Family addresses the use of biblical principles in parenting and marriage to strengthen the family.

Christ applies redemption as well!

I cant believe you asked that question. Haven't you been paying attention to what I have posted already ?

Yes.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17

Do you believe the world that is unsaved, is reconciled to God?

There is a saved world, and a condemned world.

There are people in the world who do believe the message of Christ, and are saved.

The world is a reference to the world system that is under the control of the wicked one, who is called the god of this world.

But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing, whose minds the god of this world has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.
2 Corinthians 4:3-4

The Day is fast approaching when Christ will return and destroy the wicked, and cast the devil and his angels to hell.

God does love the unsaved people of the world and desires for them to be saved.

The 'righteousness of Christ' in (2 Cor. 5:21) is only after the individual is 'reconciled to God' as said in (5:20) God, in reconciling the world to Himself made this possible.

The order is perfectly clear. Through the death and Resurrection of Christ, the world was reconciled to God. The offense of sin was removed. The way is open for any to come by only faith and be reconciled to God. Some individuals do come. Those are the elect. And righteousness is imputed to them. But the majority that make up the world, do not, even though God removed that offense.

Just because God removed sin as an offense between Him and the world, did not save the world. It afforded the world the opportunity to be saved.

The world in 2 Cor 5:19 has been reconciled to God by His death, thats why their sins are not not imputed to them, they were imputed to Christ.

Yes. But that doesn't mean the righteousness of Christ was imputed to the world. As I have already said.

God reconciled the world to Himself. The world does not seek to be reconciled to God.

In other words, you err in trying to say the world is saved due to the reconciliation by God.

The 'elect' are not saved by the reconciliation either. The opportunity is there for them to be saved. They are saved by their faith in Christ. Then they have the righteousness of Christ imputed to them.

Based on this scripture do you believe the “world” is saved; reconciled to God?

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17

People of the world become saved by believing in Christ Jesus and His message of salvation.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16

God loves the lost, unsaved, unreconciled people of the world, and desires for them to be saved.

Do you believe this?

World in the Bible = unsaved, unreconciled people

When a person becomes saved, they are no longer in the world, but are in the kingdom of God, having been reconciled to God.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. John 3:17

Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.
1 John 2:15-17

You can disagree. It doesnt change nothing. Those Christ died for, have no sins charged to them, regardless if they are born again or not, it has nothing to with new birth. It has all to do with the death of Christ.
Why can't you see that it is a two way street?
We have duties to accomplish in order to profit from the sacrifice, the gift of salvation paid for by the Lord Jesus Christ.
Those who will not subject themselves to Him, even though He suffered and died for them, will not have their names written in the book of life.
Sinners hate God, (Matt 6:24), so will not serve Him here or in eternity.
The option for a different kind of eternity is available to them...if they will take it.

Regarding the first point...

Christ's death paid the price for all sin for all people. There is no requirement for repentance or baptism. All that is necessary is to believe in the Son.

John 3:16-18, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son."

Receiving the Holy Spirit isn't dependent on someone's behavior but on God's will. You can't earn the Holy Spirit; it is a gift.

Acts 2:1-4, "When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."
You have inadvertently supplied the over-looked point I have been trying to make..."John 3:16-18, "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life...."

What happens to those who "don't believe in Him"?
Belief IS a requirement for eternal life, so you can quit saying we need not "do anything".

Well the whole world of 2 Cor 5:19 is saved from its sins. God doesnt impute to it their sins, hence its saved and blessed Rom 4:7-8

7 Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.

8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.
Not everyone wants to be reconciled, and so will be lost.

Heb 9:12

Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

When Christ with His Blood went into the Holy Place,it was to present His Blood before the God and Judge of His People, and because of the Resurrection we know that His Blood was accepted, His Work was accepted in behalf of all whom He died for, this meant also that all the persons had been accepted of God. So even as by nature enemies, by His Offering all for whom He died were reconciled to God Rom 5:10

10For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

That word reconciled means :

return to favour with, be reconciled to one

c) to receive one into favour

They were received into God's Favor. The very receiving Christ into Glory is proof positive that His Atonement for the Elect had been accepted, and as Christ the Head had been accepted, His acceptance was the also the acceptance of His Members of His Body He represented, for they are one in God's Sight. So when one for whom Christ died is born into this world a filthy sinner, they nevertheless have been accepted by God into His Favour, to the Praise of the Glory of His Grace Eph 1:6

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

And all we have to do is love Him above anything else, and our neighbor as ourselves.
PLUS, He showed us how to do that !

Most of your conversation is about what men do. This is all about what Christ has done, see the difference ?
Most understand what Jesus and His Father have accomplished on our behalf.
It is the response we demonstrate of that accomplishment that will separate some from others on the day of judgement.
As I said somewhere else, the "credit card" in on the table for all of us.
We have to pick it up and use it...to His glory.

Having obtained Eternal Redemption for us !

Heb 9:12

12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Who are the Us ? Why it is the Heirs of God, Joint Heirs with Jesus Christ as Per Heb 1:14

14Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?

Heb 6:17

Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath:

Heb 11:9

By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise:

Heb 1:2

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Rom 8:17

And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Rom 9:8

8That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.

This was not a temporal Redemption, but Eternal, it's effects are outside of time. It's infinite value was Eternal and Immutable in God's sight. It being Eternal, its forgiveness is from everlasting to everlasting Ps 103:12,17

12As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.

17But the mercy of the LORD is from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children's children;

It comprehends from when Christ offered Himself on the Cross, and made Atonement for all the sins of all of the Election of grace, who had lived from Adam, to include all of the Election of Grace then present, and yet all that should live upon the Earth until the end of time. This redemption is without date, and of everlasting duration, and existed in the Eternal Mind of God, since the existence of God ! If we can tell when God began to exist, or when He can cease to exist, then we can know the beginning and ending of the Eternal Redemption Christ obtained for all those He died for. For it was Eternal in the engagements that were entered into [ Christ's Suretyship of the Everlasting Covenant with the Father and the Spirit], in the accomplishments of what it has done, and the Eternal Glory that shall be revealed ! 1 Pet 5:10

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
