More on Christ's Intercession !
Rom 8:33-34
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.
Heb 7:25
25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
The Lord Jesus Christ makes intercession for His Elect, those for whom He died, those whom God Justifieth before they are called to Faith; In fact, it is His prevailing Intercession that is the cause of their believing Jn 17:20
20 Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
This verse informs us that Christ did Pray for some unbelievers, for their believing was yet in the future ! But their believing is sure to occur by the prayer of Christ here !
Also before faith or believing, His intercession for them prevails for their preservation while in a unconverted and uncalled state, so that they may remain alive until they are called by the Gospel Jude 1:1
1 Jude, the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified by God the Father, and preserved in Jesus Christ, and called:
Notice that they are first preserved in Jesus Christ, then Called ! This verse also teaches that they were in Jesus Christ before they are called, or while they are yet uncalled !
The word preserved is the greek word Tereo and means:
to attend to carefully, take care of
to guard
metaph. to keep, one in the state in which he is
to observe
to reserve: to undergo something
Yes, even when they are dead in sin, children of wrath as others BY NATURE, they are nevertheless in Jesus Christ and they are being Divinely cared for. For they are even unconverted still Heirs of Salvation Heb 1:14
14 Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?
For instance, Isaac was a Heir of Salvation Gal 4:30; Heb 11:9, but yet, he must still be born a unconverted sinner, a child of wrath by Nature as others, and all believers were as Isaac was, a Child or Heir of Promise Gal 4:28
28 Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
