You said that several decades ago, only people not on proper medication would think that we would one day build airplanes and helicopters. Several, by definition means more than 2. Airplanes were invented in the early 1900's and helicopters in the 1940's. Thus, both were in existence several decades ago.

By 'several decades ago' I mean a very looooong time ago (to avoid giving the wrong dates)- as i'm not good at history.
