I feel that the year 2018 could be the year that the tribulation starts. I just have a feeling about that year. I dont want to be a false prophet but i'm just telling you what i feel. The mark of the beast technology already exists and the Gospel has to be preached to all nations/tribes first. In any case i have to be right with Christ each day, in others i'm prepared.
Technology has nothing to do with the spirit of "the mark of the beast". Though I do not see Revelation [and "the mark of the beast"] at ALL being literal, for the sake of argument, it ["mark of the beast"] can only be about "worshipping" the antichrist as god, and taking his mark to show it. It is practically impossible for the world to follow this "future leader". Each religious belief system would have to completely abandon their faith to do so. If you think this COULD be possible, imagine yourself abandoning Jesus for some dude who wants to be worshipped and MAY perform some magic tricks!
well they said no one would be able to trade or sale, so I guess people interpret that as some sort of electronic identification/economic device

But for your last point, people change their religious beliefs all the time, even without "magic tricks", not that the Bible mentions any out side of the false resurrection of the beast (correct me if i'm wrong).
But since we're talking about a story in the bible, lets go by what it says looking at it as a whole.
It says even the elect would be deceived

The best way to control people is not by physical action, but belief. Think about it....
