Christians against Metal

I guess in some local churches the anti metal/hard rock thing is a bit on a par with other stuff such as no pants; the King James as the version the Apostle Paul supposedly used (I love the KJ, but not for this 'reason'), no bodyart, etc.

The no metal/rock is a kind of cultural thing. Fine if this is someone's view. But hard to expect everyone to have the same tastes, I guess...

The OP mentioned screams. I think in hard rock and metal screaming can be overdone. But I think in some circumstances it can be quite effective, if done judiciously.

questdriven, do you have a particular view on the effectiveness of screams sometimes in hard rock/metal. (You know quite a lot about these genres, anyway.)

No that's not it, unless its from a different country where they grow those thorns, I've seen something similar but can't put my finger on it..

Below is from a post here that I did in 2011.

This is a list of Christian metal bands, including bands that played Christian metal at some point in their careers. Some bands might not be listed because of a disputed status as a "Christian band."

Christian metal, also known as white metal, is heavy metal music with a Christian message. Christian metal is regarded more of a concept rather than a genre since it has no specific musical characteristics. Christian metal emerged in the late 1970s as a means of evangelization to the wider heavy metal music scene, and was pioneered by the American Resurrection Band and Swedish Jerusalem.
Los Angeles'

Stryper achieved wide success in the 1980s, otherwise the genre was mostly ignored by the mainstream. California's Tourniquet and Australia's Mortification led the movement in the 1990s. The metalcore groups Underoath, Demon Hunter, As I Lay Dying, and Norma Jean (dubbed by Revolver Magazine as "The Holy Alliance") brought some mainstream attention to the movement in the first decade of the 21st century, achieving ranks in the Billboard 200

Paul1965 hasn't been around lately.

Seems like a genre that would interest you, anyway. Although I see that Lewis W, above, reckons it's not really a specific genre.

I've listened to some tracks by Flyleaf and Pillar on Pandora. They seem pretty awesome, especially Flyleaf.
