true but there are some that do condone drug use. kid rock comes to mind with some of his songs.

I've heard this one soooooo many times and always wondered how people who say this know what demons sound like? I mean, are they personally visiting with them or something so they can know this? They can't really be ignorant enough to think they know what a demon sounds like because they heard one in a movie or TV show, can they?

I think the way its Biblical lyrics are presented are very effective, anyway.

With the vocals and possibly the bass, I'd call it metal.

Okay, thanks. You know quite a lot about Christian hard rock and heavy metal. Because I think it's a very, very effective means of communicating the uncompromising Biblical truth of the lyrics and the Bible verses they link in with, don't you?
Like, such tracks might not always be suitable for a general congregational worship. But to many people they would really communicate, I think.

Well it's what our cliche imagination of demons would sound like. Maybe some christians mistake the stereotype trope of demons having deep growl voices for reality, or they think that in sounding like cliche demons metal vocalists worship them?
That's much more true for the pop music or hip hop/ rap scene than for metal.
The metal I love to listen to is either christian, or secular dealing with human issues (in a serious psychological, sociological, metaphorical or philosophical way, without glorifying them), political issues, or spirituality in general (many christians would be suspicious about that, but I love folk or pagan metal, 1. for the folk music elements, and 2. for the lyrics dealing with our cheesy ideas of ancient cultures and their mythology, or with fantasy fiction).
Hate or anger and vengefulness do often appear in metal, but they also appear in the Bible.
One of the appealing (to me) qualities metal has is its emotional power. The "aggressive" music style can express all those feelings of anger and that can be helpful for us to recognise and handle those emotions in ourselves. And honestly there are enough things in this world to be angry about.
So if some christian would think like "Metal sounds aggressive so it must be demonic." then that would be a big oversimplification.

Please don't misunderstand me. I'm a huge Red, Skillet, Kutless fan. I enjoy heavy metal as much as anyone here.
But none of the above bands glorify sin or promote sinful behavior.
Yeah, I took my so to dirtfest. Watched asking Alexandria live... I like the music, not so much the message. Does that mean they can't have a song I don't like? It doesn't mean that at all.
Garbage in, garbage out. Its all music and not isolated to heavy metal. We want to make sure we put good music in and that has nothing to do with style.

My first thought as well. Hence why I don't listen to any non-Christian music. There is no knowing how it may be so subtly effecting one's heart.

I'm with you there in thought and most of the music I listen to is ttabbed Christian. But... I am a big 80s fan... yeah, this metal head likes Madonna and men at work...
I am selective in the songs I llisten to. Katrina and the waves.... nothing bad there. Frankie goes to Hollywood. Love the beat but ainto gonna le myself listen to that tripe.

sinner!, NOT THAT I haven't listened to much of her stuff. I do like like a prayer but she is kinda pushing it with that video and lyrics. she isn't talking about prayer but sex. me thinks lady gaga might have taken a cue from that one song with her song judas!

Sounds good. It's good to apply a bit of logic here. Some bad, does not mean, all bad. Metal and rock musicians with tattoos, does not mean, therefore all metal and rock is bad. I think for example Disciple's Battle Lines, which questdriven reaffirms, above, is within the metal mainstream, is a very effective presentation of Biblical truth.

Like A Prayer, is very tuneful; it's also a protest about Southern lynchings. (But I wish she wouldn't keep taking her clothes off...)
