On Monday, Arlene Holmes wanted to explain her comments made to ABC News early Friday. Damiani read the following statement:
"I was awakened by a call from a reporter from ABC Media on July 20 about 5:45 a.m. I did not know anything about a shooting in Aurora at that time. He asked if I was Arlene Holmes and if my son was James Holmes who lives in Aurora, Colorado. I answered 'Yes, you have the right person.' I was referring to myself. I asked him to tell me why he was calling and he told me about a shooting in Aurora. He asked for a comment. I told him I could not comment because I did not know if the person he was talking about was my son and I would need to find out."

The yellow journalism that plagued this story does no one any justice. Journalists have been taking snippets out of context for the sake of sensationalism.

I sit back and think of what could have been going through his mind when this person was doing this. He had nothing to gain. He did not take his life along side the ones he took. What could he have possibly thought the outcome would be. Deranged? I think not since he had months to plan it all out. Only God knows what was going through his mind.

My heart goes out to tall the families that had to go through this senseless act of evil...

Latest Colorado shooting news. Is James Holmes deranged? Holmes was wearing red hair and told people he was "The Joker" when he was arrested by police. During a news conference, NYPD commisoner Ray Kelly said, "We have some information, most of it is public. It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He had his hair painted red, he said he was ‘The Joker,’ obviously the enemy of Batman." Batman’s enemy, The Joker, actually had green hair. I agree, he had nothing to gain from doing this. None of it makes sense. Everything anyones does has a reason.
