no, its not that hidden just your standard entry allowance. unless It is an open base. which last I recall it wasn't.

Something i get from Scripture is the sinners Jesus spent time with were no longer sinners ... That may not be phrased correctly ....
It is not like He went to the hooker and paid her to wash His feet.
All saved folks are sinners saved by grace..
All "saved" folks WERE sinners.
Just like the ones who repented of sin and hung around with Jesus.
If one is still committing sin, their lord is the devil.

One of the most difficult things to do as a Christian (at least for me) is figuring out what it means to avoid compromising with the world (yes, there are the most obvious compromises). There are believers here who would say I am compromising, others who probably have compromised, others who are compromising and others who do not compromise – this is the category I want to be in because it’s the category I see that God told us to be in. He wasn’t kidding when he said don’t compromise with the world.

James 4:4 You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them.

I think this issue has no boundaries; it crosses generational lines and is a worldwide universal problem inside the Church. It was already a problem at the start of the Church, which explains all the exhortations and warnings found in the Bible.

I believe the Church is widely affected by society (which you could say is allowing the world in), however the era a person grew up in will influence them and their view on what compromising looks like. Some people might be highly offended by tattoos for instance and make the claim a person doing so has loved the world, while another person would embrace the idea of tattoos, especially if it’s done in an expression of outwardly showing their love for the Lord (no I do not have any tattoos – lol), it’s an example. Others might embrace a secular sport, while others will say this is all secular and we shouldn’t follow any sport, musical group, watch certain movies, etc.

There are so many denominations and differing beliefs out there, I was wondering if you all could help pin down what it means to compromise with the world. I believe the Bible, especially the OT, has some great examples for this, but I wanted to see what you all had to say about it as well.

What is compromising with the world? How do we evangelize but not get entangled with it?

Thanks for your help.
Compromise, hmm, sounds like those trying to jam K2k Evolution , deep time, and big bang into the Bible.

hanging out w/ her and some other former "friends" would be unacceptable compromise with the world (and my past).
Bad company corrupts good morals. This would be/is a sin to let corruption happen in yourself .... or on purpose or not on purpose to lead someone else to being corrupted (especially a blind man or a child).

fwiw, the nitty gritty, is clear enough ---- do not hang out with those who think injecting their faces with toxic chemicals is approved by the Creator. It is an abomination to Him... the body of a believer is to be a holy temple for Him.

Reactions: Hopeful 2
That is true, but I don't want to be over on that side either. If we defined legalism we might say it is the man made laws people have created for themselves.

I'm just talking about the boundaries God has placed in our lives for our own safety and guidance, and where are those boundaries. What do they look like?
Pretend/ imagine if you can, while remaining in Jesus ,
that you have a wonderful fiancee with every intention of marriage, life time married life with her, in total harmony with God's Word and with God's people , believers faithfully abiding in Jesus ...
and then
if God permits you and her go shopping, or to a worship service in His Design, or travelling (again if He Permits),

and yoyu see another girl/woman who in the worldly ways is pretty or attractive.
re boundaries: can you stare at her. gaze at her with desire? touch her? pay attention to her and neglect your fiancee? can you think thoughts of possible sin with her ? and so on ....

There is no gray area. God does not approve of sinful thoughts in the hear, soul or mind.
A godly fiancee would not either.

That is the only sort of sin there is.
Already debunked. Repeating a debunked belief does not make it true.

4 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying, 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘If a person sins unintentionally in any of the things which the Lord has commanded not to be done, and commits any of them,

Explain HOW can this verse exist if what you assert is true!!

So by your logic, you are purposefully sinning, as you are armed with the knowledge that lying is 1. a sin and 2. Specifically against the Biblical God.

"if we say we have no sin we decieve ourselves"
We! Vague we, no magic arbitrary "group" nonsense found anywhere!

It was not debunked.
Unless the book of James had been debunked na dI didn't hear about it yet.

It was an OT precept no longer present in the NT.
That precept went the way of circumcision, dietary rules, priesthood, and tithing.

Sin is rebelliousness against God.
Accidently killing someone who steps out from between parked cars, is not murder.
Sin requires intent !

The "we" in question are those who commit sin.
That would be those who walk in darkness.
BUT, if we walk in God-the light, ALL our past sins have been washed away by the blood of Christ ! (1 John 1:7)
We can remain in the light, by the grace of God and the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Won't you consider walking in the light ?
