Copeland says whenever you don’t get a prayer answered, you lost at the faith game. This is pure ------- teaching, and can hurt a lot of people who are believing for loved ones to be healed.
I absolutely hate this teaching. I followed it completely, and the result of it was, when my father was dying of terminal cancer, I was totally convinced he would be healed after praying and laying hands on him.
I believe it 100 percent, never let go of that belief, and wasn’t even worried about him. When he passed away (about 2 or three weeks after being saved in a Baptist church), I was absolutely shocked. I thought he would be healed until the very end.
There is no way I could have possibly had any stronger faith. The terrible part of what this teaching did to me and my dad, though (and I’ll bet to others who totally belive it), is I never was able to show any emotional sympathy for him. I thought that would be weakness and lack of faith, which would mess up the healing.
All I told him was I wasn’t worried because of Who I knew and what I knew. So as a result, I was never there emotionally for him. And my dad was a very loving father. My lack of emotion for him was only because of this ridiculous out of balance teaching by Copeland and others.
