Covid-19 in Australia

Thanks so much Jason. I have severe heart problems & now renal dysfunction. I'm learning over & over that this world is not my home.
I have stage 3 Chronic Kidney Disease. Keto diet arrested further degradation of my kidney function. Keto drastically arrested my out of control blood pressure. I watch Dadvice on Youtube for kidney health and Dr Eric Berg for Keto diet. I watch other doctors too for fasting. I lost 45 lbs. in 6 months by aggressive dieting/fasting. I now strive for an 18 hour fast daily except weekends. Praying for you.

This is correct. But, it is also possible to do those things and still not spread it. Social distancing, if practices religiously, is probably our best defense. What would that look like? Staying home unless it is absolutely necessary and wait until you can get everything done in one trip rather than taking those short quick trips. When you do go make sure to keep your distance from others always. Don't visit your neighbors unless you remain outside and keep your distance. Wash your hands regularly and don't touch your face just in case you touched something that had the living virus on it.

I see the CDC has changed their mask recommendation. Here's what it says now...

CDC recommends that people wear masks in public settings, at events and gatherings, and anywhere they will be around other people.

Here's what it said before.

When I go out I wear a mask every time every where. I usually wear surgical gloves as well. I wear prescription glasses for my eyes. If I didn't have prescription glasses I would wear shades to protect my eyes.

I wore gloves during lockdown when i went the shop. I didnt wear mask but had social distance.

The problem with the gloves is that they do not kill the virus nor do they protect against anything more than your bare hands would. In other words, if your hands can carry the virus so can gloves. To protect yourself without gloves, the best thing to do is to never touch your face and to wash your hands every time you touch something. The same would be true with gloves except instead of washing your hands, you would remove your gloves, following safe practice procedures which most do not do, and discard them in a safe place so others do not have to handle them.

Think about a doctor or nurse. When they enter the examination room they wash their hands to protect you from them. If they put on a pair of gloves they remove those gloves using correct procedures and discard them appropriately before leaving the exam room. They do not wear the same pair of gloves while visiting multiple patients.

Here's a demonstration for how to remove examination gloves.

I tend to touch my face bare handed while gloves remind me not to do so. They work for me to protect me from.......me.

I dont believe people should be forced to wear a item on there head, something on there own body, against there own choice if they want to go out in public otherwise they face a penalty.

On a side note, does a woman who wears a burka need to also wear a mask?

Do you think it fair for a school student with chicken pox be forced to stay home until fully recovered?

I'm here in hospital & have been forced to go nowhere near the covid-19 ward. Is that fair for me when I have a friend in Covid ward.?
