Jeremiah 9:21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

  • Death is one of Satan's many names.....

Revelation 6:8 And I looked, and behold, a pale horse: and his name that sat on him was Death, and Hell followed with him. And power was given unto them over the fourth part of the earth, to kill with sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

  • Death, comes into our windows to enter our homes. To me this means through our windows to the world...our televisions and computers. They are fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil for they are...good and evil. He, Death, uses these windows to keep God's children and God's young men, (the man child) from the "streets." Well, in today society, keeping someone "off the streets" is a good thing...but that isn't what is meant.

[list:1h2h525r]Streets....width, avenue or area; broad place (way), street.

Without...to sever, separate by a wall, outside, outdoors; abroad, field, forth highway, more out(side) street, without.

As I was reading the above verse in Jeremiah I wondered why Death wants to keep us "from the streets." Then I realized....He wants the children "cut off from without," and the "young men from the streets," as it keeps them from their destiny. The children of God and the young men are...the two witnesses. They are to take His word forward...to witness for Him. Among them, some will be those shown below....[/list:u:1h2h525r]

Revelation 11:8 And their dead bodies shall lie in the street of the great city, which spiritually is called Sodom and Egypt, where also our Lord was crucified.

  • [list:1h2h525r]Street ...wide place, open square.

That is the street Death wants to keep us from. The great city is the world...not Jerusalem and he wants to keep us from witnessing in this world.[/list:u:1h2h525r]

The prophecy in Jeremiah 9 is about Israel. Jeremiah is telling what was about to happen to his people. It is a prophecy warning the Israelites of the imminent judgment which is about fall upon them and the surrounding gentile (heathen) nations. The death in this case is from God and HIS judgment.

Please, stop making things that which they are not. :gah

Who do you think Israel is Vic?

What you are not understanding is exactly who Israel is and that there are types and shadows in the Bible...examples for us. As ancient Israel was taken in captivity...so are we.

You seem to always make smart little comments but not much scripture backing up your loose words............

What makes this nonsense???????

Is it that you just dont understand what is being said...........

Please share your interpretation of the verse or you can ,,,well you know the rest........

Jeremiah 9:21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

Some simply have not had their eyes and ears opened yet so are unable to understand what is being said while others....well, some of those others profess to be "not a Christian." For them I quote the following.....

  • Isaiah 29:14-15 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid. Woe unto them that seek deep to hide their counsel from the LORD, and their works are in the dark, and they say, Who seeth us? and who knoweth us?

To the non-Christians....I hope you are able to understand that. A marvellous work is being done and His people are being taught by the Comforter. Please consider this while there is time to be one of His people.

  • John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in My name, He shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

When people start appealing to the Holy Spirit for the 'truth' of their interpretation of the bible, this is a proven telltale sign of the interpretation being wholly the result of imagination. It has no real basis in the text.

Maybe at a later date,,,,, you will see the connection,,, you now call "contextually unrelated"...........

wavy is quite correct.

I agree Free.

As a believer, I resent statements like the one below. Proof texting and crisscrossing verses unrelated leaves the door wide open to personal and private interpretation, in which we are warned to refrain. It isn't edifying and it could easily lead astray newcomers and those not versed in the cultural and contextual significance of scripture, especially OT scripture. Attributing things to the Ekklesia that were for and about the Israelites leads to all kinds of errant doctrine.

Attributing these errant beliefs to the Spirit is just an excuse to make Bible verses say whatever you want them to say. That's NOT saying I do not believe scripture has personal and relevant meaning in the life of a believer; it does. But it should remain that way and not be taught as doctrine.

Dear Free and Vic,

As believers...what do you believe the verse teaches us?
:-)

Vic gave his understanding in the second post. And I agree.

Jer 9:13-15b, " 13 And the LORD says: "Because they have forsaken my law that I set before them, and have not obeyed my voice or walked in accord with it, 14 but have stubbornly followed their own hearts and have gone after the Baals, as their fathers taught them. 15 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel:"

This about God's judgment against Israel.

Is it really? :confused I think not. Please read the verse in question again...

  • Jeremiah 9:21 For death is come up into our windows, and is entered into our palaces, to cut off the children from without, and the young men from the streets.

Where is God's judgment in that? What are the windows? Is God death? Why would God cut off children and young men? And....who is Israel?

Wow! Really? Do you see the problem with taking verses out of context? Do you disagree that verses 13-15 (not to mention all of Jer 9) are a part of the context in which one must understand verse 21?

Certainly they are. I again ask you...who is Israel? Who is death in the windows? Please explain.
