They made a reported 60 million dollars off of that film. The controversy just helped them to make more money. It is difficult to think that they made the film for any reason other then to make money. Of course Matt Crouch tried to make some moves but could not bring in more then 10 or 12 million, so that did not make it worth the while for them to continue to make movies.
