Some passages in the O.T. seem to be speaking directly about Jesus.
Do you think Jesus saw Himself in these prophecies?

Which ones and when do you think He realized He was the Messiah?

Could you post a couple of your favorite prophecies...
Are they of value?

Since He is God I am sure He always knew He would be the Messiah, as God knew what would happen even before the earth was formed and time began.

Galatians 3:16 is a good place to start

Unless you count Genesis 1 when God says, "Let there be light". Which John's first chapter attributes to Jesus.

thinking about the answers to the questions - will post when i have thought it through

Since Jesus is the eternal and only begotten Son of God (God the Word) He is revealed throughout the OT, and He knew before His incarnation the prophecies which would apply to Him. He knew He would be the Messiah before the creation of the world. There are dozens of prophecies pertaining to His first and second comings. Isaiah 53:1-12 is a well-known prophecy. So is Micah 5:2.

this is a song also very powerful

Yes, it is a song, but if you look closely to the words of Christian songs it is scripture set to music within the lyrics like this one that shows who Jesus is from Genesis to Revelation as being "He is".

i have listened to the song many times only titled Jesus is

It's sad that you only see it as a song and not see who Jesus is within the words of the song titled "He is".

The topic is not about our relationship with Jesus. It's about, does the OT speak about Jesus. I used this song to show how Jesus is mentioned in every book of the Bible. If you can't understand that so be it.

The questioned asked in the OP was, "does the OT speak about Jesus". Nothing more, nothing less. You implied that the song I posted was only a song, but I said it shows Jesus through the whole Bible. This is why I said so be it as you implied it was only a song so we just need to drop this. Any scholar of the Bible can see Jesus from the beginning to the end as He is Alpha and Omega.

Are they of value?

Without having read the entire thread, here is my off the cuff response of what I know and memory will permit me to remember.

The short answer is yes, Jesus is on almost every page of the OT. You know that there are many scriptures which speak of, before the foundation of the world...right? He already knew what was going to happen and what He would have to do.
The Lamb slain before the foundation of the world ring a bell?

Now (this is my speculation here...) Jesus became flesh and dwelt among us...He had to do this fair and honest, ok? For our God is a just God. So...when Jesus was first born, I believe that He was born with a blank tablet (knowing nothing) as we were (are)...But! His mother Mary, knew better, knew who He was and so forth because the Angel came and told her...So Mary raised the boy Jesus up to know God, and Jesus drew close to God as a child...nd Father God drew close to Him. So Jesus learned who He was and walked in it.

I have heard stories about Jesus when He was a child, things that He did and so forth (I don't know if the stories are true so don't normally go around repeating them...) Like one where His earthly dad Joeseph was having some difficulty with a carpentry project one time, and had cut a few boards too short...and the boy Jesus supernaturally stretched out the boards for him...andf stuff like that. I believe those could be true...

But I digress, you wanted an example of Jesus in the OT? Ok...

Genesis 5...that super boring genealogy chapter that everyone likes to skip, because it doesn't seem to really teach us anything...But it does.

Here, Chuck Missler can explain it more succinctly than I can.
and that is Jesus in the OT!
There is tons more...

You implied that the song I posted was only a song
well i see you imply a lot of things it is a song and a song has a message in it . the song came out over 20 years ago . but i will go out tell my dead horse he really needs to move . while watching m mule look at the new gate :horse:horse:thud

Parenthesis added by myself for emphasis.

Genesis 1:3 And God said, Let there be light: and there was light (Jesus). 4 And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness, (John 1:5)

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. (Deity - Jesus) 2 The same (Jesus) was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made (Compare vs. 10). In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not (God divided Jesus from the darkness of man so that man by Him can be saved). 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.

Skip down to vs. 14 And the Word (Deity - Jesus) was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
