Probably so. Interestingly, they are the one known exception to insular dwarfism in the Proboscidea. While the Wrangle Island mammoths were smaller than usual, they were not actual dwarfs. In many locations around the world, elephants and their kin have evolved into dwarf forms on islands. Currently, the most recent date for mammoths on Wrangle is about 3700 years ago.
