If we want to go there.I would not ask apostle Paul about marriage counseling nor child raising.he isn't married nor a dad.
Just because one is married and isn't divorced does not mean your marriage is good one.
That's a whole nutter thread.
That was established when Jesus said Mark 10:6-9 ..Paul said the husband of one wife, as in, if they are married should only have one wife, not that they must be married.
Either way being single ,or childless isn't a reason you can't .my poiNT was that not all pastors are married ot have kids. They them have no knowledge how to counsel in those matters. If this was for me Jason I said Paul was a different situation ..

Some chose not toI don't disagree but have you noticed the chances a man not married might be a problem .. My preacher will have a wife and well behaved kids and that's my business .. The last church I visited with a woman preacher she ended quitting and running off with her girlfriend .. And I checked out every single male teacher my kids had in school only a couple of them .
I beat my kids for correction severely when they were young but only a few times and each time it was over that quick, if I said ''do it now'' there was no delay or argument.. I taught them , showed them how to be and act like a man of God, every teacher, coach or Sunday school teacher bragged to me how pleased they were to have them, they excelled in everything and my oldest today is head of IT with his company and works nation wide and the youngest 37 is plant manager of a manufacturing plant and has visited 4 continents within the year and he doesn't even have a completed degree, they both have Gods blessing and owe all they are to Jesus .. They both told me ''dad you don't ever worry about mom if something happens to you''Pk,the best kids to get into trouble with.I knew one who was the worst kid in the trailer park.his dad ,loved the Lord but had hell with his son.
{ Moreover he must have a good testimony} this is the most importantDoes this apply to all church leaders including pastors?
1 Timothy 3:1-13 NKJV
Qualifications for Overseers
This is a faithful saying: If a man desires the position of a bishop, he desires a good work. A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach; not given to wine, not violent, not greedy for money, but gentle, not quarrelsome, not covetous; one who rules his own house well, having his children in submission with all reverence (for if a man does not know how to rule his own house, how will he take care of the church of God?); not a novice, lest being puffed up with pride he fall into the same condemnation as the devil. Moreover he must have a good testimony among those who are outside, lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
Qualifications of Deacons
Likewise deacons must be reverent, not double-tongued, not given to much wine, not greedy for money, holding the mystery of the faith with a pure conscience. But let these also first be tested; then let them serve as deacons, being found blameless. Likewise, their wives must be reverent, not slanderers, temperate, faithful in all things. Let deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well. For those who have served well as deacons obtain for themselves a good standing and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
agreed we allow those who have committed crimes preach --------------------raises hand been there . the real problem we have is the only thing most know is the husband of one wife. a man who has been remarried and feels called to preach .in the presbytery i belong to . we examine what the cause was. that is divorced remarried after Grace. i know person who was doing street preaching has opened a church up only problem is he has been married several times. he is not ordained . imo he has no business behind the pulpit. another man i know left his wife for another woman . he has no business preachingIt really depends on the circumstances.
It wouldn't matter to me except we have instruction on the matter, there's lots of things that don't matter to me but once we have instruction if we didn't try to follow the order then things would get out of hand over all ..{ Moreover he must have a good testimony} this is the most important agreed we allow those who have committed crimes preach --------------------raises hand been there . the real problem we have is the only thing most know is the husband of one wife. a man who has been remarried and feels called to preach .in the presbytery i belong to . we examine what the cause was. that is divorced remarried after Grace. i know person who was doing street preaching has opened a church up only problem is he has been married several times. he is not ordained . imo he has no business behind the pulpit. another man i know left his wife for another woman . he has no business preaching
the pulpit should be guarded and kept sacred divorce is not the end of the world for preachers.. but there must be a just cause . 2 christians should be able to work things out.i also know a pastor his wife just up and left him for no reason. .i have no problem if he divorces her and remarries later on and still preaches
you ever studied out polygamy ? this could very well be what one of the things paul is addressing. i can not hold it against a man if he was divorced due to his wife leaving him.. had he left her then imo he is disqualified once again circumstances and yes we must have proper orderIt wouldn't matter to me except we have instruction on the matter, there's lots of things that don't matter to me but once we have instruction if we didn't try to follow the order then things would get out of hand over all ..

God ,not paul.Neither was Jesus.
Jesus in fact enlightened Paul on the road to Damascus to preach the Good News. Paul in fact was empowered by Christ in person. To say you would not take counsel from Paul is about as close to blasphemy as you can get and un-Christian.
so even if a man has been married and his wife leaves him for no reason and latter he decides to remarry .he can no longer pastor??? what is his sin ?Best to stick with the scripture....once you start making exceptions where do you stop?????
The husband of one wife...its pretty clear??????
Mainly appllies to pastors as they deal with marriages and family issues on a daily basis!!!
Doesnt apply to apostles prophets evangelists and teachers....bible teachers ushers.....
Worship leaders. Street evanfelists. Jail ministers. Misionaries......
Almost all ministers can be single or divorced accept pastors!!!!!!!
There is only 1 pastor per church...he should meat these requirements......
As listed before by some here when you break the scripture you will suffer consequences....
Women pastors. Divorced pastors. Young pastors.........
Garunteed to have breqk downs!!!!!!
there are many reasons why God put this in the scripture!!!
The word of God speqks for Himself!,,,,,,
If a man cant manage his own household how can he handle the house of God???
1 timothy 3:5
LegalismPolygamy waa around in Pauls day, the gentiles did that more then the jews.
So a widower who marries again is out of the question.
