Do they make good movies anymore??

one truth

Do they make good movies anymore? I don't even want to watch movies that come out because they are awful most of the time. Anyone have good reviews for me?

Good is such a subjective term. What I find good someone else may not.

True, but I think by 'Good' the Op, means of some moral value concerning the human condition, but then that's my subjective interpretation.

My mother used to say of other people, "some people are not worth knowing". Ouch! but that does have practical truth and I think of that when I pick movies.

My wife and I will occasionally watch a raunchy comedy. Example: "Brides Maids", but I would not speak of it in many circles. We tend to look for value in a movie, or we look for movies that convey positive values for our children and ourselves.

Last night, I introduced my daughters the movie "Pollyanna". It was made in the 60's and I will often introduce the movie to them in a way that peeks their interest. Often they will comment that the movie is "old" and suggest it has less value because of it, but soon they get interested.

Here is a good movie some of you might like. "The Way" Check it out.

I was pleasantly surprised with it. My wife and I like to hike, so we thought it was just kind of about hiking through Europe, but the story is powerful, and has inspired us to possibly try it out some time. We added it to our bucket list.

My fiancé and I had the same reaction

By good I mean moral, less sex, less violence, less cussing. Less of the world. Like I consider movies like National Treasure, Bella, Henry Poole Is Here... as pretty good. I would really like to watch a movie that doesn't involve overuse of the F-word, people screwing around on their other halves, and ridiculous use of violence. Know what I mean?

I haven't seen The Way. Might check it out

Hannah:

You're entirely right about the problem.

Trouble is, with human nature being what it is, Hollywood producers knows what sells, basically.

I guess you could say I'm more of a book person.

Blessings.

From your first sentence......even 'less' can be very dangerous to some.;)How about 'absolute...';) :) :chin

One that has absolutely no violence, sex, corruption etc;)

Yes, well I got that but what did you mean by, it's dangerous not to have those, supposedly?

(Mind you, this is the sort of stuff that Hollywood knows will sell.)

Exactly.Just like a lady who did a gospel song and could only sell few copies. She was a christian that time. But she changed her mind and began producing something ungodly. She followed the world. She wanted fame and dough. She got both. You know what? She became a star.:sadproducers know what people like: violence, sex, whatever....

Do not invite my dad to any movie. What is that nonsense? He will ask, 'no matter how less serious'. He's such a Goldly man

C: I know what you mean.

So often, not only are they bad, but even if they are kind of indifferent, movies and TV can be such a time-waster, too. (Did anyone say also internet???)

The internet? That is absolutely the worst.(kids these days don't read at all. It's always, games, online movies, this model, this music, IMs, etc).
