Originally it meant "pulling together". We've made it, "leaving others behind" or "besting them".

Except for in sports, I try not to as it gets me in trouble as many times than I care to admit. Will leave it at that! As really need to let the Lord handle things and not be so competitive. You win and lose for both reasons!

Well, by our common definition....
In somethings I am competitive and others not.
When I play games and when I play any kind of sport, I play to win. Yup, I am competitive.
I even compete against myself.

Many other things are not meant to be competitive. Things like keeping up with the Jones, "I'm nicer than you are.", etc.

I suppose that would have something to do with how good a loser we are. I'm very competitive but I don't get upset if I lose, the best person won. My philosophy is to just to try harder and do better next time.

here I may have the desire to be right, but its not from that side of me. in bjj and most arts there is idea of training to train and not to win but to work on what you need to. sometimes a drill is a drill. its not a match.
