Do you really believe we are living in the end times and why?

Now I know for sure we are in the last days

2nd Peter 3
3 Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts,
4 And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.
5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
6 Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished:
7 But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men.

Oh SMACKDOWN!!

Good post Watchman F.

It seems people have always thought the end of days was just around the corner claiming it would be at the time of this generation or that generation and those generations continue to pass away and life goes on.
I am not saying we are not close to the end times I am just curious why our generation is different.

In the Hebrew tradition - the days before the captivity were known as the former days and afterward when they came back to the land - this was known as the latter days. We have been living in the "latter days" since the 6th century BC.

Peter quoted Micah on the day of Pentecost by saying...

Micah 4:1 (NASB)
And it will come about in the last days
That the mountain of the house of the Lord
Will be established as the chief of the mountains.
It will be raised above the hills,
And the peoples will stream to it.

Peter said this was fulfilled in his day - 2,000 years ago.

Acts 2:17 (NASB)
'And it shall be in the LAST DAYS,' God says,
'That I will pour forth of My Spirit upon all MANKIND;
And your sons and your daughters shall prophesy,
And your young men shall see visions,
And your old men shall dream dreams;

So every day since then brings us one day closer to the very last day.

The term last days in the bible refers to the last days of the Old Covenant

The term last days in the bible refers to the last days of the Old Covenant, not the last days of human history.

Notice Peter says in Acts 2:16 "this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel." He is saying that the events happening right then, right there are what Joel was referring to. He is proclaiming that they are living the last days right then and it is the last days of the Old Covenant. The last days are behind us not in front of us.

The last days ended in 70 AD when the Jewish temple was destroyed and the Old Covenant came to a complete end.
