Do You Support Capital Punishment? (Death For Certain Crimes)

The background was that they were trying to get Jesus commit a wrong in order to have something to accuse Him, John 8:6. If I remember correctly, under the OT law both the man and women caught in adultery were to be taken before the elders/judges of the city (along with witnesses) a trail held and the judges made a ruling. This did not happen in John 8 with the woman therefore Jesus would not go against the law Himself and condemn her. Even though Jesus did not condemn her, Jesus said nothing here, or elsewhere, about stopping the death penalty against certain crimes.
When Joseph found out that Mary was expecting,,,he had two choices:
He could have denounced her for punishment,,,which would have been death by stoning.
Or he could have accepted her and her child by another man.

Not in every case was death the end of an adulterous affair.

The Adulterous Woman was taken to Jesus for the reason you stated.
Jesus forgave her,,,in a smart way,,,but He forgave her nonetheless.

Although I have a problem understanding Genesis 9:6,,,it would seem that this is the verse where God states that the government may kill a man that has killed in order to show the value of life.

How does killing a man that has killed a man show the value of life?

Mary was not in an adulterous affair though.

Not handing out punishment de-values things.

How did Joseph know it was not an adulterous affair?
He as distressed by Mary's news.

Was Mary devalued because Joseph did not have her stoned to death
by denouncing her to his Rabbi?

I think life in prison is a good punishment and removes the danger from the society in general.

In your earlier post you posted in regards to Mary and Joseph that "Not in every case was death the end of an adulterous affair."
I was pointing that Mary is not a case of an adultererous affair.

-------

Since I am a tax payer and have money taken from me to pay for prisons, prisoners etc I think the death penalty is better.

And I said that Joseph DID NOT KNOW if Mary had an adulterous affair.
If he had denounced her, she would have been stoned to death.
Matthew 1:18-19

They were a normal couple like a couple of today.
If a woman goes to her husband and tells him she's expecting but had no relations,
what would he think? (sorry, Joseph wasn't her husband yet but they were bethrothed)..

Same thing,

Then God helped Joseph to understand that it was a miraculous happening.
Matthew 1:20-24

I support it, because i think justice must happen, if someone lets a serial killer go free, or just go to jail then it isnt justice. I think its good aswell for people, i think death is better than prison. A person can die saved but in prison the person is just surrounded by unfortunate circumstances and negative surroundings.
