Does Jesus Love You?

Tonight

Member
Whenever I hear a Christian say to someone, "Jesus loves you", it bothers me. First of all, I don't believe Jesus loves everybody. I believe He WANTS to love everybody but that doesn't mean He DOES love everybody. To me, when Christians say this, they are giving the impression that God will save them because He "loves" them. There is no need to give yourself to Him. Why? He already loves me, so why bother? Sometimes I see signs in front of a church with big letters "Jesus Loves You". I feel like going in there and telling them Jesus does NOT love everybody and to stop saying that.

And for those who want to argue with me about this, think about it this way. Would Jesus send someone He loves to Hell? And, who exactly is going to Hell?

I love my children, but I punish them accordingly because I love them. Love does not mean doing everything everyone wants, that's a progressive misconception.
Jesus loves everyone because he sacrificed himself for everyone. :)

OH, How he loves us!!
David Crowder Band. :)

He is jealous for me,
Loves like a hurricane, I am a tree,
Bending beneath the weight of his wind and mercy.
When all of a sudden,
I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory,
And I realise just how beautiful You are,
And how great Your affections are for me.

And oh, how He loves us so,
Oh how He loves us,
How He loves us all

Yeah, He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves us,
Oh! how He loves.

We are His portion and He is our prize,
Drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes,
If grace is an ocean, we’re all sinking.
And Heaven meets earth like an unforseen kiss,
And my heart turns violently inside of my chest,
I don’t have time to maintain these regrets,
When I think about, the way…

So Jesus will send someone He loves to Hell? How much sense does that make?

We chose our own 'karma'. If we can't 'love' others as Jesus loved unconditionally there is not place for us in 'God's Kingdom' plain and simple. It rests in our hands. If you think of it in terms of following a list of rules with no regard to our motives thinking that in the end it will either be a 'city of gold' or 'a burning eternity' I think you'll be disappointed.

Tonight: "Whenever I hear a Christian say to someone, "Jesus loves you", it bothers me. First of all, I don't believe Jesus loves everybody."

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Tonight: "I believe He WANTS to love everybody but that doesn't mean He DOES love everybody. With all due respect, you are limiting God.

Tonight: "And for those who want to argue with me about this, think about it this way. Would Jesus send someone He loves to Hell? And, who exactly is going to Hell?"

Of course He would. Why? Because that person did not recognize who He is by accepting the awesome gift that was offered to him or her and living a life that was pleasing to the Father.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

What if they don't come to repentance? Does He still love them?

I believe you are limiting God. Like I wrote earlier, I do not say God hates anyone. He just DOES NOT love everyone. One must commit themselves to Him before He loves them. If God loves everyone,
He would treat everyone the same, correct? Do you believe He corrects those that do not belive in Him? If this were true, the world would be perfect. I don't think anyone can claim that.

Your definition of love is different than mine.

is loving not punish a murder and let go do it again agian again...
sin must be punished, the Lord has no joy in slaying the wicked yet he must as he is also Holy and Just and pure.

we send ourselves to hell, the Lord simply says reap what you have sown.We can avoid this altogether simply by accepting the redemption of the cross.

what you are saying is like blaming the doctor for not curing the disease you have when he gave the cure and you take it.

I dont understand how you could believe that Jesus does not love everybody?
And I most definately believe Jesus loves people that are going to hell.
Jesus doesnt want anybody to go to hell, he wants us to all be saved. He loves everybody, thats why he died on the cross to save everybody... not just the good people... everybody.
Jesus hates the sinful acts many people do, but he doesn't hate his people for being sinful. He loves us and thats why he wants us to know him and follow him, so that we dont have to die in hell.
He wants us to be saved from hell. If he didnt love us, he wouldnt really care whether or not we went to hell or heaven, dont you think?
Just a thought...

Why would God create hell? Let's say you have 3 children and you are a believer and you teach your kids about Jesus, you send them to bible school and christian schools to increase the chances His teachings will stick. But say 1 out of the 3 children go off into the world and change their worldview radically, becoming an atheist based on any number of ideas they've come across. Let's assume that, that child was never a 'believer' in the first place. That child is now in her twenties, she's a good citizen and an secular humanist social worker serving the poor in remote areas of India. By all accounts your child has rejected God and rejected Jesus to the point where she admits only that Jesus was a wise teacher.

Let's say one day she comes down with some third-world disease, dysentary or yellow fever and dies. You as a parent and a believer have some tough times ahead. One your child is dead and you are mourning her loss and two your child is suffering eternally in hell thanks to God who created Hell.

If you are a parent now, tell me: How do you love that God?

If that doesn't work, think about your youngest child maybe he or she is 2 years old. Think about them in hell (because there is a chance that could happen) and then explain why God is a loving God. Even if God does not send your children to Hell, he does by default because he made the place and that makes him the potential torturer of your children.

TheUnworthyServant, in the "To Save A Life" thread I strongly disagreed with you, but in this one, I completely agree!

Tonight:

If you do not believe God (Jesus) loves all because He sends people to hell, you have some misconceptions that need correcting for you to understand better. Which is normal. Sadly we all have them.

First, God isn't sending anyone to hell. They go to hell by their own choice or the choice forced onto them by lack of Christians telling them. But before you get into the unjust God rant, understand God reveals Himself through His creation. All of it.

Secondly, sin. Sin is not something God gave us. It is something we contracted ourselves. Like a disease. Like chicken pox might be to you if you had never had it before or never had the vaccine. God has a perfect place up in Heaven and sin cannot come. Otherwise Heaven would be Imperfect. Which is impossible. So, God, because He loved His people found a loophole in His laws. Sacrifice. Originally, He made it so if one sinned, they died spiritually. God says this.. Somehow someone or something has to die one way or another. So, God tells I don't know.. Aaron/Moses? to start sacrificing unblemished lambs and doves and the sort.

Sin = death. No way around it. God had a long term plan though. Because God loved us so much, He sent part of Himself (His Son) here to die and be our final sacrifice. After this point, all we had to do is believe. Easy right?

That is God's love. He created a loophole in His own rules though sacrifice and finally Christ's death.

There is no "wanting to love" in that. It is pure unadulterated holy Love that God feels for us.

Does loving God mean we can reject His judgments and anything else that doesn't seem fair to us?
I have faith His judgment is righteous and just. I have faith that He knows the spirit of the judged. Do we know the spirit of our children?

Anyway,

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

What more do we expect God to do for us? :confused
I mean really. What more?

Does that matter? Do you want your children to suffer in hell for eternity? Is that just. Will you be at peace with that if Gold told you that your child was in hell?

Of course I don't want my children to go to Hell. That's up to them to come to grips with God. I can lead them to the Lord but it's their spirits that will fashion their futures. Dodging accountability can be a lifetime endeavor that many choose to pursue and if that's the way they chose to go then who am I to overturn God's judgments?

That is precisely it! God doesn't want us to go there either! We cannot go to heaven because of our sin. God sent Christ to die our death so we can go to Heaven.. He did this because He loves us and wants to restore that relationship that we had in the Garden of Eden. How hard is this to understand?

You did not read my post.

I DID NOT say God is sending people to Hell. All I said is that Jesus DOES NOT love everyone. Someone wrote He DOES love everyone.

What I wrote could of been put better.

What I should of written is, why would He allow them to go to Hell. It is your belief Jesus loves everyone? Then why does He not treat everyone the same? Why do we need to believe? Why bother? If you believe, for the simple reason to avoid Hell, I believe it is you who needs correcting. Because, according to you, the only difference between a believer and a non-believer is one is going to Hell and the other isn't. I'd like to think my relationship with Christ is more than just a "get out of Hell" card.

No ranting. Re-read my post.

I don't think you get my point. Why did God create Hell? Did he have to create Hell-a special place of suffering reserved for your and his children who rejected Christ even without knowing it? Isn't that a bit petty? Why doesn't he just let us go to dust instead of Hell?

If your child runs away from home at 17 after rejecting you as a parent and telling you that she hates you, would it calm your need for justice if you knew that she was on the street living a hellish existence (nothing compared to hell I'm sure). Would you go after her, cruising the streets in your car looking for her to take her home, or would you say: "No, I hate evil and justice is too important, may she live in hell for all of eternity...oh but my heart breaks for her".

Of course you wouldn't. Doesn't that idea of God make him seem sort of petty? This is a tough question that most Christians choose not to deal with. Perhaps the truth is, that the concept of Hell was created by man.

The thing is Jesus does love everyone, but He doesn't saved everyone because He loves them. He wants all to be saved because He loves us all. He only saves those that return His love.

Jesus sends nobody to Hell, He died so they would not have to go to Hell. Jesus died for all men therefore He loves all men.

1st John 2:2 And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus didn't die for the saved only but for the sins of the whole world. People send themselves to Hell by rejecting the salvation Christ died for them to receive.
