The point of drinking is not to "occupy your time." I don't know where you got that notion.
I like beer when I'm working and sweating.
I like a beer with my dinner.
I like wine with some foods but it tends to be stronger than the lite beer I drink and I do not like any kind of "buzz."

Interestingly enough, and off topic, the Matthew 15:11 verse is used to validate homosexuality at a pro-Christian-Homosexual website. Just throwing that out there as an example of how scripture can be sadly twisted by sadly twisted lost souls. :neutral
Jesus served wine at the last supper. I think if wine was forbidden, alcohol, Jesus would have violated the Father's will.
Well the kids in my high school would rather spend their time drinking at parties then anything else and their liquor comes from their parents homes, so I don't get it. Maybe I should try it, maybe I am missing out on something special.

ive been told and read here and there that alcohol in ancient times was far less potent than what is available today. plus, a lot of it was a safety issue--a lil bit of booze can kill germs, which is an issue if you don't have advanced water treatment facilities, pasteurized juices, etc.
i dunno. I was raised to believe that drinking is OK (mainline Protestant), but these days...I dunno..the less one messes with brain chemistry, the better. I'm not saying that Scripture demands a 0 alcohol approach, but I do think a 0 alcohol approach can be of God and in line with taking adequate care of the body God has given us.

I had a beer yesterday. With my steak from the grill. I always get a bit of a buzz from one beer. I'll have another one someday when the mood strikes. If Jesus were here, I'd offer Him one. It's good beer. Maybe He'd rather have wine. Dunno.
If I had a brother or sister here, and they were bothered by drinking, I wouldn't drink in front of them. Bad form.
If I was bothered by drinking or wasn't sure about it, I wouldn't drink.
Last year I was at a men's Bible study. We called Bibles, Buddies, and Beer. Not all of us had a beer (a). When the women joined us we'd have a barbeque and called it Bibles, Buddies, Babes, Beer, and Brats.

You don't use the immature behavior of idle teenagers as a template for adult behavior.
Teenagers acting stupidly does not describe the average person who has an alcoholic drink as part of his diet.
"Adolescence" (teenage years in the USA) is the name we give to the period in the lives of wealthy young people (average American) who have no responsibilities and whose parents are content to let them run amok. In the non-wealthy parts of the world, (most of it) hundreds of millions of children under 10 years of age work long hours to help insure that their families get to eat that day.

I haven't found a source in the USA of the red bratwursts we got in Germany. They were the BEST!

Your not missing out on anything special. Not sure if you have witness the parties these people go to but i guarentee they all act like a bunch of complete goons punching down lots of alcohol. A few hours drinking is not worth a day of headache and regret. And then it becomes habbit and start binge drinking and over time can really mess with people mentally and physically and start developing bad anxieties and depression.
You end up just frittering life away.
Take advice from an alcoholic, its not worth it.

Well I agree with that. Which is why when I do have a drink, it is only beer and only ever one (I did have a Maitai in Hawaii and it was gooooood! But only one. It was complementary). But I'd never have more than one and never drink to drink. I don't party either. Never liked it. Been there done that.
Don't assume all drinkers are the same,consider how much I hate alcoholic drinks .I have never been drunk, drank more then one beer at that only once.
Unfortunately, I am not allowed to run amok, I even have neighborhood jobs, painting, mowing watering, etc.
I do wonder what I am missing out on. It's taken society by storm.
Kids in Germany drink and it's not a big deal there. Or so I heard.

In many countries, kids can drink alcoholic beverages.
That is not the same as spending an inordinate amount of time partying and drinking and whatever else pops into their heads.

I have lived in Spain, Germany, Korea, and Russia and visited France, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, Switzerland, and Japan.
Thay all allow kids to drink?
My parents don't drink, thry don't have a problem with other people drinking. They say it's just not for them.

None of them condone drunkenness.
new Orleans, old enough to reach over the counter you can drink. I have seen them serve minors. the police know it but yeah good luck shutting down bourbon street. its done all over.
I know someone who makes fake ID's. He sells them to high school kids so they can buy, marijuana, too.
It just seems there is a craze on alcohol and I eant to know what the big deal is. Lol
