Yes, many do go by their carnal understanding for like you said they do no proper studying. I can even go as far as saying I use to be one of those type of people many years ago when I use to believe everything that came out of the pulpit without properly studying by praying first and asking the Holy Spirit to teach me as I was very naive back in the day and had no Spiritual understanding.
No, Peter is not disagreeing as you have to go back to 2Peter 3:11 to understand Peter is talking about when the sky will dissolve in flames and the elements melt in the heat while we are waiting for the new heavens and the new earth that we need to be living holy and saintly lives while we wait for the day of God to come. We are to live without spot or stain so that God will find us at peace when He comes as His patience gives opportunity for others to be saved. Peter told those he was speaking to that Paul already taught them this. Wisdom is a gift only given by the Holy Spirit. Paul writes his letters like this in wisdom that man can not understand unless they are indwelled with the Holy Spirit and are also given the gift of wisdom and understanding. Uneducated and unbalanced people distort the scriptures and is a fatal thing to do. We need to be careful and not be carried away with what man distorts, but to keep growing in grace and the knowledge of our Lord Christ Jesus

A liver has a lot of trouble understanding how an ear operates. If we are working toward the body of Christ being blessed, then the whole body must be addressed.
Over the years I have a little list of ways to check myself out. I had to do this, because my area of symbolism must scare folks. I still would be open to other bible methods.

Jesus used parables to conceal not reveal. The disciples did not thank Jesus for using examples they understood, but had to seek understanding from Jesus (just opposite from church tradition). We today began to see spirit filled apostles opening parable type things.

That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, I will open my mouth in parables; I will utter things which have been kept secret from the foundation of the world.

All my previous post examples should tend to agree. Not just three people agreeing , but creation / Word / Jesus / Holy Spirit / (etc.). If I have a conflict, I cry out for help.

Peter is talking of what Paul writes in his letters, that some of it is hard to understand. Peter doesn't tell us precisely what those things are, just that they are difficult. And that contradicts what you have said. That's all I'll say regarding that.
When one takes out the supporting beam then the whole roof collapses. Something to think about and that's all I need to say.

Spiritual growth eludes many for various reasons, but just as with Peter referring to Paul's teaching as hard to be understood (2 Pet 3:16), there were many things he was not privileged to have even heard that Paul received by revelation by our risen Savior Jesus (Gal 1:12).
What was one of those things? Col 1:27 To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
Did Peter know prior to Paul's writing or personal teaching that he was to follow Paul as he followed Christ? (1 Cor 11:1). Paul even had to rebuke Peter. (Gal 2:11). Even the world will be judged according to the gospel Jesus sent him forth with. In the word of God, are we subject to learning of Jesus today? Peter evidently learned that.(2 Pet 3:18).
You see, Paul was given things hidden to Peter and the others for instance.
Col 1:25 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;

Brilliant deduction. It was really an interesting matter, taking a murdering persecutor of the church and turning him. It is amazingly beautiful. Blindsided out of nowhere. Doing the opposite of what "we" all think one must do to be saved.
God SAVES the ignorant unbelievers. If there is one takeaway, it is that Gods Grace in Christ does rest upon such.
1 Tim. 1:
13 Who was before a blasphemer, and a persecutor, and injurious: but I obtained mercy, because I did it ignorantly in unbelief.
14 And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

No, why would I ask everyone to agree with me. There are many that have no foundation of truth for they would rather believe whatever comes from the pulpit instead of taking the scriptures given from the pulpit and studying them so they will know that what they are being taught is truth or error. I was guilty of that myself back in the day until I had my spiritual eyes and ears opened to hear what the Holy Spirit teaches me. Do I know everything, no, as we could never exhaust the word of God, but my studying habits have changed.

I just went and read it, probably not with too much understanding, but to me it sounds like a vision or a truth that is publicly exposed for all to see in the end of a greedy sanctimonious pompous self glorifying delusional top globalist that owes a lot, plunders a lot, kills a lot, blackmails a lot, then gets it all turned back on him in the end where he is exposed, plundered, and killed.

I guess I qualify as an old man....dreaming dreams....I had a dream that there was this huge storm cloud that was swirling in the sky. It was humungous. It started off high in the sky and began coming down lower to the earth. As it descended 7 tornadoes developed around it like as if they were table legs for this gargantuan thing to set down on. I could see the sun shining on the top of the giant swirling cloud. It was very white and bright on top, but very dark underneath. There were some breaks in the clouds on top and I could see white buildings nestled in the clouds. The buildings were bright in the sun too. I woke up and immediately thought to myself.....the New Jerusalem is coming...I gotta tell someone. That was several years ago.....just a dream. I do wonder though....why 7 tornadoes?

God offers eternal life to all of mankind but He will let everyone have what he insists on having.

The number 7 in Scripture means completeness or finished. Generally the Lord will give you the understanding of such direct teachings. Persevere.

In my life I has seen many angles of Christianity through the many lenses provided by the plethora of denominations and their belief systems. Not to mention all the "lone wolfs" out their with their own unique viewpoints. I have yet to see anyone who knows it all and yet to see anyone who is not in error in some area of their beliefs. Its just a matter of the degree.
