Good ol Darby and Scofield
Amen!
I disagree that this site is "Holy" as you say. Why is it Holy? Even if a temple modeled after the one Solomon built was rebuilt, it would still be an abomination in the sight of God. Your point about the Dome of the Rock being the abomination of desolation is interesting.Digging - excellent point made. There will be no Temple built. The Bible does not at all state that a third Temple will be built.
Just because a Moslem Mosque has been built over the Threshing floor of Jehu does not make it any less Holy. The mosque just make the rock desolate of its proper Temple. As of right now - that Mosque is an abomination - it is unclean, it is not sanctified by Yahweh. And it does make the Holy site desolate. Can a certain man stand inside that Mosque as a human figure of the Abomination of Desolation .... > Yes.

I am not sure i understand what you are saying. You said that you don't believe in a literal 1000 year reign but then you refer to the reign of Christ as a day and reference 2 Peter 3:8 which states that a day to God is a 1000 years?? I believe the Mahdi could be who is referred to by Christians as the Anit-Christ. And their Prophet Jesus could be the False Prophet that leads people to follow this Anti-Christ. I am not sure that the 1000 year reign is literal as well...it could be a figure of speech simply referring to the Kingdom of God...Revelation is a difficult book to understand and so much of it is allegorical...it should not take precedence over the Gospels or the Epistles (my opinion). In the Gospels Jesus never referred to some kind of Millenial Kingdom and then Satan being released again to deceive the nations again. This is a very awesome picture that Joel and Zechariah paint for us.
It clearly shows Christ coming down to Mt Olive with his saints gathered there as well. It even shows the saints already translated since they have superhuman strength.
I personally believe there is no literal 1000 years. I believe what you are seeing here in Joel and Zechariah is to total of 10 days. From Feast of Trumpets to Day of Atonement. The reign of Christ will last for a day (1000) see 2nd Peter 3:8. The governments of the World will simply not know what to do about this person that all have witnessed descend from Space. As well as the mass of followers he has who appeared to have descended with him as well. Satan will be bound in chains during this period of one day, which is the Feast of trumpets. When the day is over, the Devil will be let loose for a short while, until Yom Kippur. In that time, the Devil will convince mankind that this person who came from Space is an Alien. Then they will gather around Jerusalem to attack Jesus and his saints.
Keep in mind that the Middle East is mostly Islamic. Islamic teaching says that the Mahdi will come to save the world and that the Prophet Jesus will assist him! Well, what do you think is going to happen when Jesus tells them - I am the Savior, I am God, I do not need the Mahdi!
And with secular governments increasingly viewing Islam as a more serious religion while Christianity is a religion worthy of mocking, this scenario is becoming more realistic as time goes by...
