End Times Prophecies

Sorry if I'm not very up to date but who is "Darby and Scofield" and what does the comment mean?

Digging

I'm sorry but fighting after a whole 1000 years just makes absolutely no sense to me whatsoever. none at all. I can't even fathom my amazing Jesus needing to wait a thousand years to finish off the devil after his triumphant return.

Now fighting after ONE day - makes all the sense to me in the world.

I'm simply cannot we even force myself to believe in a literal 1000 years.

IMHO Peter took care of this for us, when he built on the Psalm 90:4 revelation: For a thousand years in Your sight Are like yesterday when it passes by, Or as a watch in the night.

Then Peter expounds on this: 2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

Without question I see this Revelation that Peter had as a precursor to the Revelation that John received on Patmos.

Anyways - I'm convicted of that so to me Millenium views are moot:sad

Digging - excellent point made. There will be no Temple built. The Bible does not at all state that a third Temple will be built.

Just because a Moslem Mosque has been built over the Threshing floor of Jehu does not make it any less Holy. The mosque just make the rock desolate of its proper Temple. As of right now - that Mosque is an abomination - it is unclean, it is not sanctified by Yahweh. And it does make the Holy site desolate. Can a certain man stand inside that Mosque as a human figure of the Abomination of Desolation .... > Yes.
I disagree that this site is "Holy" as you say. Why is it Holy? Even if a temple modeled after the one Solomon built was rebuilt, it would still be an abomination in the sight of God. Your point about the Dome of the Rock being the abomination of desolation is interesting.

I agree - as of right now - it is not Holy. Jesus is Holy. There is no Temple with God's presence in it and therefore it is not Holy. It is nevertheless the chosen site of the Lord's return. He will descend from the Heavens and touchdown on Mt Olive which is directly opposite of Mt Zion. I would imagine that Jesus would be facing Mt. Zion when this happens according to the orientation given in Zechariah chapter 14.

To the original OP. A temple will not be rebuilt on Mt Zion.
This is what will happen in a few short years...
Joel 2
The Day of the Lord

2 Blow the trumpet in Zion,
And sound an alarm in My holy mountain!
Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble;
For the day of the Lord is coming,
For it is at hand:
2 A day of darkness and gloominess,
A day of clouds and thick darkness,
Like the morning clouds spread over the mountains.
A people come, great and strong,
The like of whom has never been;
Nor will there ever be any such after them,
Even for many successive generations.

3 A fire devours before them,
And behind them a flame burns;
The land is like the Garden of Eden before them,
And behind them a desolate wilderness;
Surely nothing shall escape them.
4 Their appearance is like the appearance of horses;
And like swift steeds, so they run.
5 With a noise like chariots
Over mountaintops they leap,
Like the noise of a flaming fire that devours the stubble,
Like a strong people set in battle array.

6 Before them the people writhe in pain;
All faces are drained of color.[a]
7 They run like mighty men,
They climb the wall like men of war;
Every one marches in formation,
And they do not break ranks.
8 They do not push one another;
Every one marches in his own column.[b]
Though they lunge between the weapons,
They are not cut down.[c]
9 They run to and fro in the city,
They run on the wall;
They climb into the houses,
They enter at the windows like a thief.

10 The earth quakes before them,
The heavens tremble;
The sun and moon grow dark,
And the stars diminish their brightness.
11 The Lord gives voice before His army,
For His camp is very great;
For strong is the One who executes His word.
For the day of the Lord is great and very terrible;
Who can endure it?

Zechariah 14
The Day of the Lord

14 Behold, the day of the Lord is coming,
And your spoil will be divided in your midst.
2 For I will gather all the nations to battle against Jerusalem;
The city shall be taken,
The houses rifled,
And the women ravished.
Half of the city shall go into captivity,
But the remnant of the people shall not be cut off from the city.

3 Then the Lord will go forth
And fight against those nations,
As He fights in the day of battle.
4 And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives,
Which faces Jerusalem on the east.
And the Mount of Olives shall be split in two,
From east to west,
Making a very large valley;
Half of the mountain shall move toward the north
And half of it toward the south.
5 Then you shall flee through My mountain valley,
For the mountain valley shall reach to Azal.
Yes, you shall flee
As you fled from the earthquake
In the days of Uzziah king of Judah.

Thus the Lord my God will come,
And all the saints with You.[a]

6 It shall come to pass in that day
That there will be no light;
The lights will diminish.
7 It shall be one day
Which is known to the Lord—
Neither day nor night.
But at evening time it shall happen
That it will be light.

8 And in that day it shall be
That living waters shall flow from Jerusalem,
Half of them toward the eastern sea
And half of them toward the western sea;
In both summer and winter it shall occur.
9 And the Lord shall be King over all the earth.
In that day it shall be—
“The Lord is one,”[b]
And His name one.

This is a very awesome picture that Joel and Zechariah paint for us.

It clearly shows Christ coming down to Mt Olive with his saints gathered there as well. It even shows the saints already translated since they have superhuman strength.

I personally believe there is no literal 1000 years. I believe what you are seeing here in Joel and Zechariah is to total of 10 days. From Feast of Trumpets to Day of Atonement. The reign of Christ will last for a day (1000) see 2nd Peter 3:8. The governments of the World will simply not know what to do about this person that all have witnessed descend from Space. As well as the mass of followers he has who appeared to have descended with him as well. Satan will be bound in chains during this period of one day, which is the Feast of trumpets. When the day is over, the Devil will be let loose for a short while, until Yom Kippur. In that time, the Devil will convince mankind that this person who came from Space is an Alien. Then they will gather around Jerusalem to attack Jesus and his saints.

Keep in mind that the Middle East is mostly Islamic. Islamic teaching says that the Mahdi will come to save the world and that the Prophet Jesus will assist him! Well, what do you think is going to happen when Jesus tells them - I am the Savior, I am God, I do not need the Mahdi!

And with secular governments increasingly viewing Islam as a more serious religion while Christianity is a religion worthy of mocking, this scenario is becoming more realistic as time goes by...

I am not sure i understand what you are saying. You said that you don't believe in a literal 1000 year reign but then you refer to the reign of Christ as a day and reference 2 Peter 3:8 which states that a day to God is a 1000 years?? I believe the Mahdi could be who is referred to by Christians as the Anit-Christ. And their Prophet Jesus could be the False Prophet that leads people to follow this Anti-Christ. I am not sure that the 1000 year reign is literal as well...it could be a figure of speech simply referring to the Kingdom of God...Revelation is a difficult book to understand and so much of it is allegorical...it should not take precedence over the Gospels or the Epistles (my opinion). In the Gospels Jesus never referred to some kind of Millenial Kingdom and then Satan being released again to deceive the nations again.

Grappler - but why did you cut it so short my friend.

Peter then says "and a thousand years is as one day". It's the 1000 years as one day that captures my attention. Why did Peter say that? I believe the Holy Spirit spoke these words to Peter as a Primer to understanding the 1000 years in Revelation.

Take a look at the order of things.
Revelation 20

New King James Version (NKJV)

Satan Bound 1,000 Years

20 Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, having the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand. 2 He laid hold of the dragon, that serpent of old, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years; 3 and he cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal on him, so that he should deceive the nations no more till the thousand years were finished. But after these things he must be released for a little while.
The Saints Reign with Christ 1,000 Years

4 And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a[a] thousand years. 5 But the rest of the dead did not live again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection. 6 Blessed and holy is he who has part in the first resurrection. Over such the second death has no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years.
Satanic Rebellion Crushed

7 Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison 8 and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea. 9 They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them. 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where[b] the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever.
The Great White Throne Judgment

11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And there was found no place for them. 12 And I saw the dead, small and great, standing before God,[c] and books were opened. And another book was opened, which is the Book of Life. And the dead were judged according to their works, by the things which were written in the books. 13 The sea gave up the dead who were in it, and Death and Hades delivered up the dead who were in them. And they were judged, each one according to his works. 14 Then Death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.[d] 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.

The very order of sequence alone reveals to me that this is not a literal 1000 years of time. It is nothing more than a day. Notice that the first resurrection occurs here! Paul says that the dead in Christ will rise first and we which are alive and remain will be caught up to meet him in the air. Paul was speaking of the first resurrection. I'm telling you, there is no 1000 literal years :)

It makes all the sense in the World and the Bible that the first resurrection occurs on the Feast of trumpets - again scripture says, 1Cor. 15:52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Then we see a great battle ensue, then then next thing you know, we are at the Great White Throne Judgment - the second death!

Then look what follows in the next chapter!

There is no logical flow with a literal 1000 years. But there is PERFECT harmony between the Feast of Trumpets and Day of Atonement. Followed up by the Feast of Tabernacles - where God will tabernacle with men Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from heaven saying, “Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people. God Himself will be with them and be their God.

Zachariah 14:19 This shall be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not come up to keep the Feast of Tabernacles.

This verse is telling us that the Feast of Tabernacles will be observed as a memorial to the beginning of the New Heaven and the New Earth, in the Kingdom of God which is forever - not a thousand years.

It's so crystal clear to me.
