Fantastic article on origins of oil and how it relates to a YEC (Young Earth Creationist) view of the world.

Here it is in a nut shell. It's quite technical, but it distills into a nice theory.
If you have watched my evidence for a global flood video, traditionally, YEC's believe that oil/coal and gas mostly came from the rapidly buried plants, animals and algae during the year long covering of the earth by the Noachian Flood.
Large vegetation mats of forests (like spirit lake) where buried and compressed with great pressure that ultimately gave rise to oil, coal and natural gas deposits. I personally still believe this, however, it's not without its issues...
The two main schools on origins of oil are Biogenic (from living matter) or Abiogenic (from non living material. The problem is that both theories have pros and cons. The author of this article proposed a THIRD option.
Simply put, God himself created much "oil" in situ as part of the Creation, just as He created Adam, Eve the animals and forests. It's a completely acceptable perspective. There is evidence for this to!
Noah was instructed as we read in Genesis to:
Noah Builds the Ark
13Then God said to Noah, "The end of all flesh has come before Me; for the earth is filled with violence because of them; and behold, I am about to destroy them with the earth. 14"Make for yourself an ark of gopher wood; you shall make the ark with rooms, and shall cover it inside and out with
pitch. 15"This is how you shall make it: the length of the ark three hundred cubits, its breadth fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.… Genesis 6
I can't believe I never saw this before! Oil in the form of pitch was around BEFORE THE FLOOD!
So, God could have created oil, in several forms and amounts, in part, just as he created the minerals, gold, etc as part of the Creation in anticipation of man's coming disobedience. He knew full well that after the flood, polar regions would be cold and that man would need a form of energy to sustain itself.
I personally do believe that massive quantities of oil are in fact related to organic debris being covered by the swirling flood mud and sand of the deluge. However, Noah used pitch, a water proof covering, so some form of oil existed before the flood!
This theory solves some issues!
Fascinating!
